Ghost Rider
Platform: PlayStation
Publisher: Crystal Dynamics
Developer: Crystal Dynamics
The Basics
Ghost Rider was to be an action game with good-looking 3D rendered graphics and an excellent use of camera tracking. The 32-bit platform was a great place to preview a character of this nature, with intense burning effects and creepy voice-overs. Ghost Rider was one game that stayed true to the nature of the comic it was based on, as Ghost Rider the game character protected the innocent and tormented the bad guys. Amidst the detailed graphics and seemingly great audio, there were several cameo appearances by other Marvel superheroes on the drawing board.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Ghost Rider fell through the cracks when Crystal Dynamics reorganized into a developer from a publisher/developer.
Global Domination
Platform: PlayStation
Publisher: Psygnosis
Developer: Psygnosis
The Basics
A wise man once said, "Everybody wants to rule the world." Or was that a pop star? Regardless, who wouldn't want to rule the world? Psygnosis must have been thinking just that when it began developing Global Domination, a strategy game that would have given you the chance to take over the world (insert evil laughter here). Global Domination was by no means your standard strategy game. In fact, it was to be a real-time game with a fairly strong emphasis on action. It had been described as "Risk meets Missile Command," and the description seems quite fitting.

You would have played as a new recruit working for ULTRA, an organization that resolved conflicts around the world. As the game progressed, you would have taken control of a country. At that point, the world would have been yours for the taking. The weapons at your disposal ranged from old WWII devices to fighting implements of the future. There were also defensive weapons that could have taken out enemy missiles or turned enemies' own weapons against them.

So what could you have done with all these toys? Well, the most obvious thing would have been to use them to pound your major opposition to toast. Then, if you were feeling a tad more strategic, you could have picked off weaker countries to expand your territory. You could have also defended other countries to gain their allegiance in future encounters.
After you had beaten all of the normal missions, you could have used the game's mission editor to create your own battle scenarios. But the game was canceled before your dreams of world domination could be realized.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Psygnosis told Gamespot News in mid-February, 1999, that the game had been canceled, but the company didn't give us any solid reasons why. It has since been released on the PC.
