This game has its momments, but its not as good as the first. It has a cool cast, but the story is not that good, and its poorly acted.....8.0 at best
This review does the game no favors at all... Single player or rather story mode is brilliant, but it's completely overlooked in this review and that's unfortunate. Multi player unlike the reviewer's opinions is or was garbage.... Hopefully GOW3 will address all of the short comings so obvious with GOW2s multi player and deliver an experience core fans will embrace and cherish for years :)
I only got this game because u fight monsters instead of people. Because fighting people are kinda boring =\

For me this is the best third person shooter ever, the best shooting game ever made and the best game for the xbox 360 (actually the gears of war games are the reason that i've bought a xbox 360 instead of a PS3), i've been playin' it for a year and i still can't get enough, it's simply awesome.
For the most part, this game wasn't intense enough to keep me at the edge of my seat, which makes a game exciting. The only exception was the big dinosaur thing, the reavers, and protecting the satelites, which was crazy.
the problem with the campaign in this game is that its so predictable. the enemies are always in the same spots so getting from checkpoint to checkpoint becomes more of memorization task then anything else.its not that noticeable the first time playing through but i started replaying the game on hardcore and i almost always know where the enemy will be. this probably wouldn't be a problem in online though.
I'm a PS3 owner but I have no trouble admitting that Gears of War looks like an amazing series. I have a lot of respect for the games and I credit the developers with perfecting the cover system that we see in almost all third person shooters today. Not only that but GoW3 looks great! GoW is definitely the first exclusive I would pick up if I had the money for a 360.

I think that the sound effects are underrated in this game. Everybody focuses on the awesome graphics, and seem to forget about the amazing sound.
