- "Amazing"
Chainsaws and guns in a video game is epic. Putting them both together is even more epic! Gears of War 1 is an amazing game and it is worth the purchase. The plot is centered on this guy named Marcus and his squad who are in a war against creatures called the Locust. That is all I can say without spoiling anything at least.
The gameplay is great. Online is amazing, and I am pretty good at it. If you have the Lancer, hold B to rev up your chainsaw. This lets your character mow down your enemy with his chainsaw. Or you could just simply shoot your enemies it's your choice. Press A to roll and hold it to run. This game is very coverbased so make sure if your health circle (the Gear) is getting red and dark, go for cover.
The campaign is split into three difficulties. Casual, Hardcore, and Insane is unlocked after beating one of the difficulties. Hardcore is pretty hard at first but if you play co-op or just play your cards right, then the game just flows and there is not much trouble. Casual is pretty difficult if you're not careful. Insane is well insane if you never played Gears. However if you play long enough, the high difficulties will feel a bit hard, but bearable.
This game is definitely worth a buy. The campaign is fun going through multiple times and multiplayer is fun. Although most people play Gears 2 or 3 online, there are still some remaining members of the Gears 1 community. This game is $20 in the Game Marketplace, and with a price like that it is most definitely worth the money.

Gears provides great action with solid gameplay that makes up for it's weak storyline and characters.
