- The Bottom Line:
- "Just plain fun"
Giants: Citizen Kabuto is an excellent and fun adventure - thoroughly amusing, challenging and funny to boot.
I bought this when it came out so many years ago, and didn't finish it due to a HD crash... but I said I would finish it "someday'. That day has come - and I'm glad I decided to give it a go... I've enjoyed every minute - the game has stood up amazingly well to the tests of time. In fact, because I've upgraded my PC several times over the years, I could finally play this game with all settings maxed out.... 150 to 200 fps... at the highest resolution too!!
This game 'is' what PC gaming is all about - adventure, FPS, humour, story, fun characters, huge landscapes, different play modes, strategy and on and on... It's got all the charm and adventure, and FPS guts that Duke Nukem Forever should have had but didn't.
I really enjoyed playing the three different races - the change to a different character kept the game fresh and interesting... and getting to play the Giant Kabuto was a hoot - squishing the helpless Sea Reapermen or eating them was a blast...
If you haven't played this game, it is worth it... Sure the graphics aren't realistic the way so many games are these days... but that's what I loved - I'm sick of realism - I just want some fantasy and fun... and Citizen Kabuto has that in spades...
Having now finished the game, I'd say it is one of my all-time favourites...in the leagues of Portal 1&2, Half-Life, Bioshock etc... but with charm and humour...

This game took great risks, and had the gamble pay off in the form of a tasty blend of proven-fun genres.

People who travel the world to see Monalisa clearly have not played Kabuto.
