If you are looking for a challenge here is what you should do with this game...
First & foremost, it should be played with a racing wheel and pedals...Otherwise don't waste your time...
Play the game from first person view and use the mirror to help you blocking those pesky cars trying to pass you by....
I used my old trusty sidewinder wheel and pedals sitting on a comfy armchair it felt like I am really a racing driver...
Since it allows all kind of gamers to approach it I recommend adopting these rules in order to make it worthwhile your time....
1)Don'y buy any new car...You are allowed only to buy used bargain cars to begin with and using those cars you get as a prize for winning a tournament
This way you have to actually learn how to drive and not just buy yourself a powerful car to do all the dirty work for you...You are going to sweat a lot before you are going to win any cup...
2)Once you win a tournament you are not allowed to keep using that tournament for winning any more cash....You can only earn money from a tournament until you win the cup and getting your prize car....from that moment on you can't go back to the same tournament for easy money to tune up your car...That way you have to earn your money the hard way....So you are going to battle for any penny.... By finishing fourth, fifth or sixth you still get a few credits to help you build your car slowly and painfully untill you manage to beat the tornament...It is a very satisfying way to learn how to drive and to appreciate any success you have....You must think what upgrade your car really in need for...Little by little you turn your car into a nightmare on the road...No one wants to mess with your car...
what's the point of beating the same tournament over and over again ,buying most powerful cars and keep winning?I wouldn't be bother with that nonsense...
For the ultimate challenge win the world cup without buying one single car...Just use cars won as prize cars...It is quite challenging...to get your first car you must win 8 golds at B class license tests ,a difficult task by all means....you are not allowed to buy or sell any cars...So you see you can invent all kinds of challenges to keep you busy for a while...
Grand Turismo is a worthy game for anyone looking for a tough challenge...

The original ultimate driving simulator; revolutionary for very good reason. A thing of beauty.

Writing this review ten years later, racing games haven't brought a lot more to the genre than what GT did back in 1997.

Despite the fact that I'm not a fan of racing games, I did find this game to be an impressive addition to my collection

Doing a flamboyant and stylish lap around the Toscana circuit, using a Peugeot 206 Rally Car. As always all driving aids are turned off except for ABS which is set to 1. Using a Logitech Force GT steering wheel which is on simulation settings.Posted May 1, 2011

This is MY opinion of which games are great this is not a fact-sheet :-) Im also well aware that some of the games on my list have seen sequels released but remember sometimes the first game was the most unique.Posted Oct 10, 2010
