Except maybe... thank you. I've never used it as one (printable checklists are more of my thing), but it's a good source of information and a nice collection of what's available in the game.

Alright, I'm about to give up. This trophy is irritating as hell.
I checked my stats. Storyline missions: DONE. Assassination Missions: DONE. Brucie's Races, Bruci's Exports, Stevie's Car Thefts, Little Jacob's Deliveries, Vigilante Missions, Most Wanted, Special Abilities, Flying Rats, Unique Jumps and Competition are ALL DONE!!
The only two I'm suspicious about are random encounters (which I have the trophy in this playthrough so I must've found all the ones required) and just completed EVERY activity with Brucie, Little Jacob, and Packie. However, I'm still sitting at 98.5%. What the hell am I missing?
I pray to God that Rockstar doesn't include this inane "100%" trophy in Grand Theft Auto V. I know they will since it's also in Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire but man can dream.

I know you said you had the trophy for random encounters, but are you positive you saved after getting it?
I went back through the topic and gathered some info for you. You can thank InfernoDragon for his always-superior advice that I'm copying here (note that these are from multiple posts of his):
Storyline Missions - 60% in chunks of 0.66%
Assassination Missions - 2% all at once
Brucie's Races - 2% all at once
Brucie's Exports - 2% all at once
Stevie's Car Thefts - 2% all at once
Little Jacob's Deliveries - 2% all at once
Current Crimes - 2.5% all at once
Most Wanted - 2.5% all at once
Random Encounters - 5% in chunks of 0.5%
Activities - 5% in chunks of 1.67%
Special Abilities - 5% in chunks of 1.67%
Competitions - 5% in chunks of 1.25%
Flying Rats - 2.5% all at once
Unique Jumps - 2.5% all at once
I input 98.33 and it outputs something like:
1 Storyline Mission
2 Random Characters
or
1 Friend's Activities
or
1 Friend Perk
3.33% is probably friend stuff.
1.25% would be a "competition". You either need to win a game of darts, win a game of pool, win a (full) game of bowling, or beat the high score in QUB3D.
And this is from Chungarunga:
Percentage for friends is divided into three parts. Two of those are 1.67% and one goes up by 1.66%.
After you complete an encounter with a Random Character it goes up by 0.5%. If that character has more than one encounter it may go up after finishing the first one but sometimes it goes up after the last one.
If none of that helps, try searching the internet for "gta iv calculator". It looks like GTAGarage has a couple programs and an Excel spreadsheet available to help you calculate your progress, but I haven't tried any of them so I can't guarantee how well they work.

I know it saved because a) after every encounter/mission/activity/etc. you complete, the game audosaves and b) it says, "12 random encounters met" but there are only 14 in the game (fortunately the guide says only 10 are necessary).
As for everything else, I checked my list.
Storyline Missions - 60% in chunks of 0.66% - All 94 missions DONE.
Assassination Missions - 2% all at once - All 9 missions DONE.
Brucie's Races - 2% all at once - All 20 Races DONE.
Brucie's Exports - 2% all at once - All 10 exports DONE.
Stevie's Car Thefts - 2% all at once - All 30 thefts DONE.
Little Jacob's Deliveries - 2% all at once - All 10 deliveries DONE.
Current Crimes/Vigilante - 2.5% all at once - All 20 criminals DONE.
Most Wanted - 2.5% all at once - All 30 PEDs DONE.
Random Encounters - 5% in chunks of 0.5% - All 10 (plus 2 extra) encounters DONE.
Activities - 5% in chunks of 1.67% - Played ALL games with everyone, all activities with everyone, won against everyone in every activitiy, etc. DONE
Special Abilities - 5% in chunks of 1.67% - All three special abilities (Helicopter, Guns, and Bomb) DONE.
Competitions - 5% in chunks of 1.25% - Won at pool, bowling, and darts. It's even recorded I won them (more than once). Also, high score at QUB3D (my score is 11,275) DONE.
Flying Rats - 2.5% all at once - All 200 pigeons DONE.
Unique Jumps - 2.5% all at once - All 50 jumps DONE.I replayed all the man-dates with everyone more than once. Heli-rides, shows, strip clubs, pool, bowling, darts, etc. EVERYTHING but coming up flat. I just don't know what I'm missing. I really, really don't.

then he did all the random encounters except for........lets say gracie
the stats say 13 so he thinks hes good
but he didnt get 1/10 that you NEED for 100%

even with a checklist i got stuck at 98.33%
im starting to wonder if it may be some sort of glitch
