According to T2's expectations... it damn well better come out Spring 2013, or a lot of shareholders are going to be very unhappy.

Don't forget Take Two the parent company to Rock Star has sold a lot of their smaller companies and studios to build money to attempt to outbid EA for the exclusive rights to the NFL license. This will require massive amounts of money, something GTA V will bring. I don't think they can afford to delay the game much longer than the end of spring.

I agree that it is really dumb that everyone keeps freaking out about Nextbox and PS4 when they haven't even been announced yet. Then they probably wont be out for a year or two after the announcement.

Also, R* has explained why they aren't waiting til next gen to release this, for anyone who has been paying attention.

“Rockstar is a content company, not a hardware company. We use the technology we have to create content, and we try not to let ourselves get beholden to the hardware. The fact that hardware’s so mature right now is exactly why we’re able to go on to the next level.

GTA 4 was our first attempt at a new platform and HD visuals, so the first part of development was seriously difficult. Now we know what the hardware’s capable of, so it’s become a lot easier to move things along and a lot more fun, too."

At a creative level, which is the most important for us, we could say everything we wanted to say and do everything we wanted to do on these machines. We didn't sit there saying, "We'd like to do this in the game, but we can't." There's plenty of power in these machines."

I think it was too much game for an Oct '12 release, so we're getting Spring '13. Like R* has looked back on all their delays and decided "no more."

Never, its all been speculation based off of nothing. It will come out when it comes out/when they actually say its going to come out. Supposedly its slated for Spring according to the new trailer, but the date could change. It was still never "supposed" to come out in October that is just nonsense.

Won't happen. Xbox 360 was revealed in 2005 at E3, came out in November. Same thing will happen this upcoming year for Xbox 720 or whatever the hell they end up calling it.

Of course there's been no official announcement, but there was gigantic leak from inside Microsoft earlier this year that specifically mentioned a 2013 release date. The next Xbox will be out within the next 12 months.

After what happened with GTA IV, I'm positive they wouldn't have given us a release window until they were absolutely certain they would have it done by then. Which is why they have simply told us Spring 2013, because they are just finishing up with everything, but aren't quite ready to give us an exact release date yet. Not saying a delay isn't possible, but they obviously know how far along the game is much better than any of us do. Lets just put a little faith in Rockstar, shall we?

Oh lovely, the one sided debate where people don't read the thread. A true GameFAQs classic. Guess I'll do a summary:

-56 page document leaks from Microsoft in June

-2013 listed as release date for next Xbox (after missing its original 2012 release date due to a shift of focus onto Kinect)

-leaked document validity pretty much set in stone when Covington & Burling LLP (a law firm employed by Microsoft) goes after any site hosting it. Many sites are also contact by Alan Radford, an investigator from Microsoft, with requests to remove any trace of said document

-raw powerpoint data from the document points to a username of "nkachroo" as the original author. Most certainly Naveen Kachroo, director of Xbox product planning at Microsoft.

As I said earlier, companies don't usually make an announcement addressing a leaked document since it was, you know, leaked, and not supposed to get out.

Spring. Rockstar doesn't seem like a company to push things back from stated release unless i'm forgetting about something from the last few years.

I remember when I thought rockstar hated money.

I'd rather they have more time with the new consoles before they devote the years of effort it will likely take to make a gta for them... Let them make a red dead redemption 2 or L.A. Noire 2, take the experience they gain from those, then make a next gen gta. From what we have seen with gta v, clearly that is the best route they could take.
