I don't consider darts, comedy clubs, surfing fake websites, or bowling as "content", especially when compared to the side missions in San Andreas.

Oh, you're one of those. You should have said from the get-go that you weren't happy that GTA IV wasn't San Andreas.

Like I said, roughly 2/3 of my time was spent outside of the story missions, and I'll be damned if I spent 50-60 hours going on man dates. There were side missions, the Stranger missions (which I hope make a return), the flying rats, vigilante missions, LJ's courier missions, the assassin's missions, the car thief missions...there was a lot there, and clearly it didn't tickle your fancy. Which is cool, but just because you didn't LIKE what was there, doesn't mean there was nothing there.

And again, that's not even touching on the multiplayer mode. Or the DLC, if that's your thing (best DLC I've ever bought).

I expect it will be an excellent game, but I won't expect perfection. Reason being, I tend to be disappointed with I expect perfection and it's not met. For example, I just got RDR: Game of the Year this summer, and was mildly letdown with it; it was still a great game and certainly well worth the money (US $24, brand new), but I'd heard so much hype that I was expecting "best game ever!" going in, and that's not a safe expectation to have.

    Let down...with RDR? Unfriended.

My worry is that, like GTA IV, it will look great but have little to no content beyond the main missions.

I spent almost twice as much time working toward 100%, than I did playing the main story. And that's not even multiplayer we're talking about yet.

If you thought GTA IV was lacking content, you were doing it wrong.

No he wasn't. You were just blinded by all the pretty scenery.

    What pretty scenery?

You mean appreciating the new-found graphics for the new Gen of GTA.

I've never heard anyone call GTA IV "pretty"

Yeah, trolls will usually go on about how "depressing" or w/e IV looks. I guess it should be expected that they'd change their tune when it suits their purposes.

Woah, woah, I said MILDLY let down. It wasn't a letdown per se, but my expectations were so high for that game that it didn't have a prayer of living up to all the hype. I've still put probably 40-50 hours into it, and plan on popping it again for multiplayer every now and then.

No I wasn't. I'm just not so close-minded that I would overlook all the things GTA IV did include simply because it didn't have the Harrier or a jetpack. Perhaps you'd read my later post where I listed some of the extra content GTA IV had to offer? Again, I didn't spend hundreds of hours doing the friend activities, or admiring the graphics. I spent it playing all the content that WAS there, that you can continue to claim wasn't, but you're completely wrong; everyone who played that game to 100% knows all the extra **** there was to do. It's ludicrous to argue otherwise, just because you didn't (or wouldn't) enjoy it.

When GTA IV was released, there was a lot of moaning and groaning on that forum because of all the unnecessary **** San Andreas had, that GTA IV did not. GTA IV was a damn impressive milestone in the franchise, and had (IMO) far and away more polish than GTA:SA did. Not that San Andreas was bad or anything, but it felt a lot like Vice City: carbon copy the one before it, improve graphics slightly, choose new locale and expand the map, pad with extra missions/content to keep people busy, release. A lot of the things GTA:SA included, felt pushed in simply because it could. They scaled that back in GTA IV to be truer to the context of the story, and the fanboys came out *****ing that it wasn't "San Andreas 2". I'm just glad you're only the vocal minority, and GTA V will no doubt improve upon its predecessor without watering down the game like they did eight years ago.

Breaking Bad, great show or greatest show?
Anybody who says Dark Souls gameplay sucks is factually incorrect.
