I know classical has been done with opera in GTAIII and modern classical in GTAIV. But I'm talking Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Bach, Debussy, etc...

College Radio generally plays underground music and local music. Often these stations also play anything and everything. Stereotypical amateur host that speaks awkwardly.

Other is for all the ones I can't fit such as gospel, polka, black metal, folk, etc...

I'd love a straight instrumental classical. Would be awesome.

My pick was 50s/60s music because it seems it would really fit with the setting and story. There's a ton of songs about California not to mention Beach Boys practically belong in this game. Also, just the fact of rampaging along with

Music like this in GTA would be so fun

    Barrett Strong - Money

Chuck Berry - No Particular Place To Go

Beach Boys - Little Deuce Coupe

The Shadows - Apache (perfect for desert driving)

Ray Charles - Hit The Road Jack

50's/60's Rock and Roll would be good. Some Fats Domino, Little Richard, Bo Diddley etc would be great. As long as it's the guys that started Rock and Roll and not the overrated crap like The Beatles or Elvis, who took the style and covered many of the songs yet popularized the genre because they were white.

Can you recommend some good songs to look into in the genre?

Little Richard - Long Tall Sally (I guarantee you know this song, think: Predator. Personal favourite)
    Fats Domino - I'm Ready
Ray Charles - Hit the Road Jack
Willie Mae Thornton - Hound Dog
Big Joe Turner - Shake, Rattle and Roll
Chuck Berry - Roll over Beethoven
Bo Diddley - Who do you Love

These are all classics that you probably still hear today used in film and television.

Edit: Chubby Checker - The Twist. Don't know how I forgot that one.

    50s/60s Rock n Roll/Pop/Motown

I can do without the Surf.

Then some classical instrumental. I wouldn't be surprised if Dubstep is included though.

I hope you enjoy them. They're all probably songs you've heard, but the artists themselves, perhaps not so much(aside from the well known Ray Charles and Little Richard). At least you've got a starting point when starting a search on the tube for songs like Tutti Frutti etc.
