Seriously. Anet could have easily justified a subscription fee...but its buy to play. The base game is $60...so the collectors bonuses are $90. That is SIX MONTHS of gametime for a pay to play mmo...I am pretty sure we will be all playing for more than six months so...I think its completely justified...AND WORTH IT!
Also, for those saying "oh i cant afford it," guess what? ITS MONTHS AWAY! Start saving now and you probably can afford it!

lmfao. no offense man but that **** is ridiculous, and i wonder how the hell you could call that a bargain. a mass produced doll, some books and a bunch of worthless in game items...have fun with your bank bot and lame elite skill i guess.
also, no one can justify a sub fee anymore. it's not a lot of money and if you want to pay you will, but that goes for every game with a fee. it's not required so
nothing justifies it.

I don't think the fact that they're not on a subscription fee model justifies the CE.
I never bought collector's editions for any game, and that little "excuse" isn't enough to make me start now.
I'd rather spend $150 on this.

I will buy the CE but I won't get delusional about justifying it to a sub fee.

Eh, like the original Guild Wars, this game is going to have at least 10 times the replay value of an offline game. So for 2-3x the prices that's still a bargain by me. Of course, by that definition, the standard version is a *much* better bargain.
Don't get me wrong, that's still a bit expensive for what you get compared to the standard version, but that doesn't even come close to the level of abuse you do when you charge 15$ a month, or when you strip content out of a game to sell it back as DLC. I've seen worse.

Buy the Collector's Edition if you think it is worth the money.
If you feel that you have to (pathetically and ineffectually) shame others that don't share your decision in order to justify your purchase, perhaps you should take a closer look at what you're intending to get out of the CE.
Emotional validation doesn't cost $150.

MMOs are massively overpriced. Even if GW2 is worth 10 of any other MMO, it's still not worth a subscription.

Also inclined to agree with Fony, subscription models have gone the way of the dinosaur it's no longer a sustainable business model.
And what kind of prick would drop £130 for an art book a plastic doll and fluff items? No amount of industry apologetics could justify that kind of price point, hell even the standard edition is high compared to just a few years ago.

Value is in the eye of the purchaser.
I think Arenanet is doing something smart: for the people who want to actually COLLECT items, the collectors edition has a lot of nifty items for a price that is fairly steep: it's likely only the people who actually really want it will get it.
On the other hand, the deluxe edition will likely cost much less (I'll bet somewhere around $80) and will include every DIGITAL item they have to offer. That means the collectors edition looks like it won't offer special skills, special vehicles, special pets, and all those things that artificially raise the value of CE digital codes on ebay (looking at WoW and SWTOR for this one).
Therefore, you aren't really any worse off for puchasing just the deluxe edition if you feel the price for CE is too steep or if you feel you won't have any use for a few pieces of art and a statue anyway.

only thing i care about from the CE is the Rytlock figure, would be better if it was an Asuran figure.....but im not going to jump from 80 bucks to 150 bucks for a 10 inch figure....Frame is okay, Art is okay, Frame is meh, and Soundtrack is meh....those things are not for me
I kind of wish they would add the figure to the Digital Deluxe and just make it 100 dollars....plus, it doesn't cost them anything to give us any of the in-game items, so ur essentially paying 40 bucks for the figure. Then make CE the Deluxe edition plus the art, book, soundtrack, and frame.
I'm not a collector by no means but i would still like that figure just because im a huge fan of guild wars

I'll be getting the Deluxe version myself simply to get the Vanity Pet and Elite Skill. $20 more doesn't seem too bad to me for those items and the consumables. The CE has some cool stuff in it, but not enough to merit me spending that kind of cash on it. Not sure why they didn't add more in-game vanity items to the CE which is what would honestly drive up the sales of it.

You'd think that kind of price tag would come with a full soundtrack instead of a limited...I mean "best of" soundtrack. But I don't see how you can consider a one-use increase to guild influence worthless. That item alone is easily worth twice the asking price.

Compared to other CE like Skyrim, the GW2 CE is pretty good. But I def won't be buying it.

$150 wasn't a bargain for the skyrim CE either and it came with better things and an infinitely better game.
