Hehe "chances are you'll still be playing it when 2006 comes around" I'm still playing it in 2012! Can't believe I've had it for 6 years...

Likely a 9/10 for great gameplay in radical looking areas.

I'm glad there's a really good and accessible MMO that's NOT WoW. My brother hipped me to Guild Wars a few years ago, and I love it.

everyone really needs to stop asking for comparisons to wow or saying "this is so much better than wow omfg" its an mmo, they're gonna be similar, all mmos are, PLAY THEM make an opinion yourself

guild wars is great it is nothing like wow at all for those who thought that. Second it will in no way compete with d3 and neither will guild wars 2 there not even the same type of play experience guild wars is like 20 bucks now so if your thinking about trying go ahead. The system requirements are not very high so if you have a low end pc your probably fine. PLus it's got no monthly fee and neither will guild wars 2 which will be a full on mmo experience if you have question in regards to that just google or go to their website =) hope this helps people

Dunno what they added since release but last time I played Guild Wars was not an MMO

Greatest game ever IMO, this game keeps me playing since 2005! its not like WoW (that got me bored after 3 months) and the game has something for hardcore RPG lovers, and for competetive gamers as well as for MMO players. It looks great as well if u ask me this is the best MMO ever and GW2 will be even better!

@RiSe1993 Same here. I'm playing video games since I was 10 (I'm 21 now) and GW was and is the only game that kept me interested. Never have I got so much satisfaction out of a game than GW. I've played a lot of games and most of them were fun, but I never replayed them. GW kept me playing. I was sucked in that fantastic world and lost hours and hours playing my digital personality. The only minor thing was that you were alone out of the city. All the rest was superb! Why did I stop playing? Factions/Nightfall weren't expansion packs, they were games on itself. So a lot of new gamers joined GW. This brought the level of GW to a very low standard. Prophecies got empty and it got hard (most of the times impossible) to form decent teams to play the main missions. I got sick of the noobs and just stopped playing. Don't know how it is now in that world. Did a lot of change?

Been playing this game. I have played multiple MMO's like City of Heroes, WoW, Final Fantasy 11, Star Wars Galaxies, etc. I can honestly say, this is the best one I have played so far.

This is way better than WoW for one obvious reason: no monthly fee. That way you don't feel obliged to play it in order to get something for your money. You can actually do other things than play it non-stop!

After being a long time fan of WOW up even until WOTLK and playing through that I realised I don't have time to enjoy WOW the way I want to, so I started looking for alternatives and I stumbled across Guild Wars which I have found to be exactly what I want, the ability to be able to play competitive pvp without the grind to acquire gear. If you want to simply PVP without investing time in building yourself and just prooving your skills both in strategy and reflexes, this game is for you.

i love the trial for wow! to me its addicting!:D but this game sounds better.... and u dont have to pay each month! yay!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I was majorly disappointed with this, but I guess I had the wrong expectations. PvE is so limited with a low level cap, there are almost no items to find to keep you playing and you can't trade equipment because almost everything is locked to your character. The game was too PvP focused for my taste, but I try to remember my login and password to give it another try once I get my new PC.

The graphics of GW never seem to stop looking brand new. WAR had worse graphics and lagged that horrid month...

@-Elite Bare in mind this is 4 and a half years old now dude, it's not totally empty, but you might end up taking NPC's along for alot of your missions. Although this isn't a contender to Diablo 3. Now Guild Wars 2 will contend with D3, no doubt.

I tried the demo of Guild Wars and loved it! Now I'm between a rock and a hard place though. Get the Trilogy edition for $50 or get the GOTY edition for $20? Hm. No monthly fees is a big plus, however in my book. The only game that could beat this would be D3 which I heard may not have a monthly fee. Who knows. This game is out and has 3 expansion packs already released. D3 hardly has any info out. Guild Wars it is!

This game is just epic. It is so unique, it plays like am mmo but feels like an action-RPG, you can compete with people around the world as a guild for PvP titles and, omg, its just awesome....NO FEES!!!!! I have no idea how they fund the cash for this game, but the Money I spent on it is worthwhile. I also play WoW and thoroughly enjoy both GW and WoW, but WoW is dead expensive to continue playing. I can only keep up the payments for about 4 months then I gotta wait another 8...so I play this game when I run out. And its awesome :D

My favourite game of all time. Seeing how packed the cities are in this video made me sad :( and the old layouts and menues made me well nostalgic lol :] Decent review

Bought it on launch and to this day I have 2200+ hours clocked in. No game has captivated me like this. Love the anti-grinding and fair play. Have 7 pve chars and 1 pvp char, always return for the pvp. Anet
