Halo 2 is a late port to the PC. It was designed to run on hardware that was developed in 2000. Halo 3 was released only 4 months after this port, and the difference between the two is night and day. It's too bad you weren't able to play this game when it was relevant.
O.K., I'm waiting for the 'thumbs down' but as a life long PC gamer, and having never played halo2 before, I picked it up while buying other PC games and after trying it (and HaloCE), I have to say I'm really surprised, after all the hype- that these are actually the games I hear all the consolers go crazy about. I promise I'm not trying to flame- but after hearing all this praise over this series for the last several years- I expected more. To me, it was nothing special, didn't feel a need to put much time into it, I was bored with it, eventually uninstalling and they've been collecting dust since. Happy for those who like it, but I'm not one of them.
@Diegog5 The reason this game Requires Vista is because the direct X version this game uses, XP cant handle.
The point is, why would someone have wanted to play this game on the PC when COD 4 was just 6 months away?
Inexcusable performance issues make this a disgustingly shoddy port of an otherwise outstanding game.
@TheVGamer Come on you know the PC can qualify to any good shooter. People love shooters on PC rather than consoles. If they just didn't fail so bad on the halo 2 for the PC, Halo 3 can have really great potential for the PC.
@Gamer999000 Yes I know it was planned as a PC game. But did you know how let's say Far Cry was created? No? There are many changes during development of a game. Things can go awry, maybe they change the whole game or just tinny bits. Just because it was meant doesn't mean it is. Halo 3,ODST and Reach are all pure blood console shooters and I just can't see it on my pc.

@Gammet25 Cause it would suck on PC!! It's a complete console shooter. It isn't like CoD or BF.
@incognito1984 the devoper that ported this game to windows did not bother to reprogram the game so that it would take advantage of the higher performance of Direct X 9 and 10 graphics cards, this game was hyped by microsoft to be vista game and it was all just hype really.
To chaor52 Yes it can be played on Windows 7. I just completed the campaign mode yesterday on a Windows 7 PC. Although the visuals may have aged from a technical standpoint, I thought the game had a good art style. The gameplay is also very good. I have to agree with the critics when it comes to the ending though. It's very abrupt and felt a bit rushed. However, gameplay is the most imprtant thing. Oh and by the way there's no v-sync option in the game setup options so you'll have to go to your graphics card options to enable it.
There is no co op on vista...it can work on vista and windows..etc..better graphics..2 new maps...1 new game mode.
Sad to say but, once old Xbox Live is canned in April, I may have to go get a copy of Halo 2 Vista.....
@AntsuH Obviously their priority is to make money, that is not my point. Microsoft keeps selling us overpriced, broken software more than any other company. They do it for selfish reasons, they prefer profit over customer loyalty, etc. those are things that makes them greedy. An opposite company would be something like Valve, they keep paying their developers so they can release new content for most of their games, they develop tools to mod their software. They keep us happy and we keep them happy. Customer happiness and profit is well balanced. 2 years, 3 years...My mistake, I don't want to spend more than 2 minutes writing a commend.
@Diegog5 You have no idea what you are talking about. Microsoft is a company. The first priority of a company is to make money. If they can be sure of making money by putting out something, they will. It's so simple. By the way, what do you mean 2 years old? It was 3 years old (give or take) in 2007 and now it's almost 5 years old.
If you are a causual gamer this game is a good game, good story, if you are dumb *cough* I mean blind enough than the graphics are good to, bla bla bla... But for the serious gamer this game is poop!! It was awesome in 2004 but now or when it was release for pc this game its just poop (****). And what the hell is wrong with Microsoft ($)? Greety bastards. "If they will buy it, we will sell it?" greediest company. Selling us a 2 year old rotten game and also promoting your half broken Windows Vista. All because you aren't willing to pay your developers a few more extra hours to port a shinier game to your worshiping PC fans.
boring game next time keep this kind of games for consoles and bring cool games for pc like crysis
This sucks for Jeff and his dead job....Halo 2 for PC got a 7.0 compared to that juicy 9.4 on Xbox JUST because of online play issues? And being graphically outdated? Please Jeff, after playing Halo 1 on PC last week, I could really care less about the "pretty graphics"
Got it for 10$ from our local bargain mart!! Even as per the present 2009 standards this game is in no way a bad deal for 10$. So yup if you are getting it for 10 bucks go and get it.It will defenitely give you juice worth your every single buck.
