In which harvest moon game have you gone the farthest in, in-game year wise?
For me it was Sunshine Islands, 13 years.

on average how long does an in game year take ?

2-3 weekends if you play nonstop.
1-2 weeks if you play but not nonstop.

I play on average about 2 hours per day on the weekdays, while I'm riding the bus to/from work. I also play for about 2-3 hours over the entire weekend (they're busy for me). So that puts me at 12-13 hours per week.

In other words, I'll squeeze every bit of productivity I can get out of every in-game minute.
It's paid off, though. I've been able to hit 100k by my first summer (carried over, not total shipped - that's higher) without having to use multiplayer.
So if you played more frequently than I did and were more relaxed about sleeping early, you could probably get through the seasons faster.

Oddly I made it past ten years on a file for Tales of Two Towns and got the house in the opposite of where I was living. Even with Fogu and gamefaqs I had a difficult time unlocking some characters & items.

Truth be told, I only played the first ten years. By then I had enough money, so I sold all my animals, and grew no crops. I just kept my wife happy and slept all the time.

I finished A Wonderful Life so I guess that's my record for years.
I got to year 4 in Back to Nature. That might be second place.
