- Jan 25, 2013 12:49 am GMTto go towards the HD trilogy. i played the life out of this game. i mastered most of the challenges (except a few glitched ones) and beat the game on professional (purist is a different kind of commitment and made 50+ contracts. As smooth as this game feels it doesnt feel like a hitman game. More like a serious parody of hitman.
I think a key part missing was Jesper Kyd and level design. Cant wait to play the original Contracts again. It had the best soundtrack.
If you like Absolution and have never tried hitman before i recommend you pick up the $39.99 3 game bundle. Youll probably hate the clunky controls or crappy AI but notice how each mission gives you the freedom to complete the mission however you want. Absolution just has alot of... your at point A.... get to point B.

FACT if somehow everyone on gamefaqs was mailed a $100 bill, tons of topics would come up with people complaining that theirs was wrinkled - Jan 25, 2013 2:15 am GMTWasn't "Hidden Valley" a "get to point A to point B"?

Respect few, fear none..
Full tattoo sleeve = 48 hours and 10 minutes under the gun. (78% done) - Jan 26, 2013 6:14 pm GMTI pre-ordered the Trilogy. I think people are thinking of Blood Money with too high regard. Absolution nailed the gameplay. Walking, sneaking and running feels smooth. Melee attacks are smooth and the animations are great. Assassinations and gunplay are great. Clever kills and accidents are plentyful in Absolution.
I am going to try to play these games with an open mind, but feel like Absolution's gameplay overhaul is going to overshadow these games.

| Hitman: Absolution | Splinter Cell: Blacklist | GTA V | - Jan 26, 2013 10:14 pm GMTI did the same. Traded it in at the local gamestop for nearly half of the collection. I agree though, these games were a lot better in my opinion. Absolution was cool and all, and brought many new players to the franchise, but nothing beats the originals

Exactly. Most of the complaints about how the level design isn't "Classic Hitman" have clearly never played Silent Assassin, or they've bad memory.
Hidden Valley, At The Gates, Graveyard Shift are all levels with no target and they're linear.
Tubeway Torpedo is extremely linear and has the target at the end of the level, just like some levels in Absolution.
The last mission in SA is basically kill everyone, stealth is nearly impossible. In fact, a lot of the levels require some insane work just to get Silent Assassin on them. Hidden Valley is especially frustrating due to glitches with the truck.

They are not comparing Absolution to Silent Assassin. They are comparing it to Blood Money. Silent Assassin is a better comparison.

Rule 2, ignore rule 1. - Jan 28, 2013 5:36 am GMTthis is just IMO, and not comparing DMC to hitman at all here...
but i did the same thing, and not the DMC trilogy is just collecting dust, not saying DmC wouldn't be either, but i was all pumped and they just dont hold up well, and there just to much out there you should be playing instead of going back again...
def understandable if you complete the game to liking and your done...just throwing that out there, think about it, maybe trade it in for a NEW game... - Jan 29, 2013 1:41 am GMTFrom: Vlayer | #005

Finally someone who gets it.
People who talk about Absolution not being a "true" Hitman or whatever, are really just saying it's not enough like Blood Money.
All the games before Blood Money weren't like that, so if anything, Blood Money isn't the "true" Hitman.
Though I loved Blood Money to death, Absolution is also a damn fine game.

Going off-topic a bit, but I really hope they fix stuff like this in the HD collection. It's been a while since I've played, but I seem to remember that SA had a few glitches that could stand to be addressed. - Jan 29, 2013 11:25 am GMTCyrianFontaine posted...

Normally a HD remake us simply a reskin. Everything else is exactly as it was for the previous version.

Yeah, that's what I figured. - Jan 30, 2013 3:57 pm GMTI have never experienced the glitch with the truck. I assume you get in the back and it won't drive its route. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Rule 2, ignore rule 1. - Jan 30, 2013 6:29 pm GMTFunny, but in the past Hitman games i played with the music off because i hated it. Level design is the only issue Hitman Absolution has, but it's still a Hitman game.

God, you know what? I can't actually remember. Was it that the truck wouldn't go or was it that guards would detect you even if you were hidden in it?
I also seem to recall that there was some weird stuff in the next section, where you have to make your way inside the complex. I remember walking down a hallway with something important at the end (weapon? item? switch?), and there were ninjas in the rafters. Lots of them. But they never detected me, even when I ran. They were just up there, poised and... sleeping. Or something.
