- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 10 to 20 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Immersive"
After spending almost 20 hours now playing this game, all I can say is.... It ROCKS hardcore. Every time I turn the game on I lose about an hour, Granted I sometimes only play an hour at a time, (Family, and life happen :( ) but in that hour I get completely immersed. I was unsure if I should pick this game up or not at first. Thinking that everyone reviewing it was just being nice. After starting the game, a little jumping to get used to the controls, and that first story book cut scene, I was hooked.
The first thing you do is learn your lightning attack, and then you go for your first mission. The feel of the drop off that first building made my heart pound, I wanted to do it more, and when you find out you can do a lightning drop, Well lets just say I have craters in about 30% of the Neon district.
For me the controls are very intuitive, and precise, there are odd button combinations, just hold L1 to aim, and press a corresponding button to annihilate. Once you have done that first mission then it's up to you to pace along however you want, and that is what makes it so immerse, you can even start a mission, and (oh I see a fragment) go after it across the city, while in the mission, it is so un-restrictive that way.
My only gripe I have with the game is that, you really need to decide if you want to go evil, or good at the beginning of the game. It does not allow for back and forth, or even has a gray area. That is a minor gripe. This has been my first game that I decided to actually play the first time through as Evil. I have to say evil is so much fun, lobbing lightning grenades carelessly, and not caring if any citizens get hurt is great. Even death is not that annoying in this game. I know that when I get frustrated because I can not figure something out, or the game "gets cheap" I put down the controller, and may never come back. So far I have never needed to do that, there is a way to get around everything, and that is the kind of game that really provides a rich experience.
If you own a PS3, and are looking for that open world game for a rich experience, and open world sandbox, this is a must buy. I really wish I had lightning powers, Not sure if I would be as evil as Cole is in the game though :)

Very repetitious, the same scenario in the whole game.

It's a fun open world that tends to repeat itself after a while.

This definitely a must have anybody with PS3. An instant classic that you won't be able to stop playing.

My 1st impressions after beating inFAMOUS. Think of it as a better prototype or a darker superhero sandbox game.
