- The Bottom Line:
- "Been there, done that"
Anybody that has never played a Katamari needs to go rent this game right now. It is not for everybody, but I can't get enough of it.
Katamari games task you to roll around a giant ball collecting objects so you can get bigger and roll up bigger things. Sounds stupid you say? Well, this game revels in its own stupidity. Nothing in this game is to be taken seriously and that is part of why the game is so fun. This game takes everything that is goofy and wonderful about the series, throws it together with a pinch of jumping and a dash of new levels.
If you own or have played all the previous installments you should only get this game if you really love Katamari because it is 85% recycled content. On the other hand, if you had to skip some of the games(like me), or you've never played Katamari before, this is the game to start with because it takes the best levels from the previous 4 games and lumps them together with a new story and a new wonderfully crazy character.
This is the kind of game that I will still pick up and play periodically in 5 years, just like the PS2 Katamari games. The replayability of these games is through the roof. With 4 play modes on every level and about 30 levels you could easily spend 20 hours on this game without ever repeating anything. The best part though is replaying stages to beat the top score and just exploring each stage. The price tag may be a bit steep for a tribute game, but anybody that is a fan of the old games or hasn't played them needs to give this game a shot.

A throwback to all the good things the Katamari series has brought us. A bit too recycled, but c'mon, it's Katamari!

Katamari Forever gives more of the great Katamari experience, but it doesn't improve very meaningfully.

Although katamari is still fun & addicting, Forever takes levels from previous entries & adds little substance.

Despite its quirky atmosphere, Katamari Forever is too bland of a game to warrant more than a single-play through.
