- The Bottom Line:
- "Great multiplayer"
I've always been a hardcore fan of the Tomb Raider franchise (for better or for worse), and while the recent game "Underworld" disappointed me, Guardian of Light did NOT!
The gameplay is pretty straightforward; you may explore as much as you want or simply stare on at the beautifully detailed environment.. The combat is a vast improvement from Underworld's clunky controls. This time, players use the left stick to move and the right stick to aim Lara's pistols. It's a blast! The puzzles, however, are the game's biggest selling point! There's a huge variety of physics-based puzzles which involve co-op or if you're playing single, 1P..
An even larger selling point would be the multiplayer. The game is filled to the brim with co-op elements and those "should i trust them" moments you rarely feel in video games these days. If you want local multiplayer, you'll have to wait for the release of LCGOL on PS3 and PC. (It's a free patch)
The story is pretty predictable, although the voice actors are all great (excluding Totec). There's also lots of replay value if you want to collect those yummy gems and bits and bobs and such...
Overall, the game is fantastic. And it's all in one download... If Crystal Dynamics have done great work with a downloadable game like this, imagine what they'll do with the next Tomb Raider game? Just buy this, you won't regret it!
