I've been buying Madden games for the last 10-12 years, loyally. I often think that the reviews are overly-critical of Madden games, so I pay little attention to them. So, I stood in line and waited for my copy of the new Madden 2011 at the 12:01 A.M. Madden Launch. I got home and I excitedly put my new Madden game in, only to find out, that they changed EVERYTHING. Now, change is often a good thing and some change is warranted, but alot of the change was not needed and it seems like the developers took 3 steps back, maybe even 100 steps back.

First of all, the graphics are the worse I have seen them since the PS2 days, they are terrible. I do think that the physics are better, but it is at the cost of the graphics; I think they could of accomplished both without sacrificing either.

The dominating receivers are nearly unstoppable, especially against other human players. One of the reasons has to be a developing flaw, due to simply making them too dominating. The other, more prevelant reason is that defense is way to hard to play. Which leads me to my next complaint.

It's way TOO hard to play defense. The defense is sluggish, and in close quarters, such as a pursuit, it's extreamly difficult to tackle players.

What happenend to the slide movements, why can't you use slide protection for the defensive line. Why did they get rid of the sprint button, this auto sprint is dumb and I can't quit holding down sprint. Why did they change the kick meter to this retarted kick meter that is designed for 4 year olds. Why is the defensive pre-snap controls different. WHY IS THERE SO MANY BROKEN TACKLES, IT'S RIDICULOUS. I seen a player break 5 tackles, way to unrealistic.

The only complement that i do have is that Team play is alot of fun and I think that Madden developers could go along way with this. I.E, allowing leagues, and tournaments. At this point it is not deep enough to enjoy and nothing is tracked from gameplay, no record of any kind.

Rent Madden, do NOT buy it, if you are a loyalist like me, learn from my mistake and take a year off. I cannot believe I waited a year for this piece of junk.
