Indeed, the greatest drawback, by far, is the lack of content. I, too, had a strong feeling of wanting to immerse myself in the game world and do things throughout, of all sorts. I had the same feeling in the original Mafia, as well. Both stories are outstanding, but sometimes you wish it more of a sandbox, rather than purposed for specific story, and let you just generally go around doing all kinds of things. I rather like the eras the games take place in (especially the first game's), hence why I feel so strongly the desire to explore those worlds.
I wonder if the 4 persons that are watching this review, are watching it because PSN Holiday sale.
MAFIA 10/10 --- MAFIA II 9/10If you didn't play the first one, you should, graphics are old (2002) but if you like all that mob atmosphere the first one is the BEST mafia game.Looking foward for a third release, you'll see at the end.

Was really interested when this came forst came out. But never got round to coping it. Will be buying pretty soon. I mean who doesn't love a good mob story?
gta 4 is much better its missions are cool give a variety of tasks cool cars egreat story etc
The game looked nice, but i concluded it was mainly because of the lighting. To be honest that's really it for this game I mean the gameplay wasn't bad but it was great either it was pretty average. I felt pretty indifferent about the characters; there wasn't anything about them that made me feel attached and i felt the only way they could of pulled off the ending is if they made the story better. I really just felt like i was being lead around for gameplay reasons rather than the narrative.
Mundane tasks, GTA IV is also filled with them, and Heavy Rain has the worst mundane tasks ever in a video game, GAMESPOT STOP BEING SO BIASED!!!
it should get an 9.5 one of the best storylines in a game ever and great combat and graphics
Mafia 2 has one of the best storylines in a video game that i've ever seen. The story is good enough to be made into a movie but, there arent any side missions to add to the fun. All in all a great game but no side missions to keep the fun going. 9/10
I found GTA to be to jerky and hard to control. This game is excellent in all ways exept spending two hours in gameplay driving everywhere. Still love it!
When I started playing this game, I just couldn't take my hands off the mouse & keyboard, I even forgot to eat at that time because this game itself is like a tasty pizza covered in blood. Even if it's not as nearly good as the first one, it's much better than the GTA games and deserves a good 9.0 rating.

Why is it so cheap now? Did it not sell very well? I guess it would be because there are too many good games now. Only played the demo but it was amazing. The only bad part is no shooting while driving. That sucks. Other than that I think the game is fantaastic and deserved to sell way more than it did.

i just finished Chapter 8 and I like it... the story and cutscenes are great and the gameplay is mostly solid, my only gripe is the overworld, there is practically nothing to do but progress
the wise guy who decided that it's not good to use a handgun while u r driving should be fired.This is the most annoying thing ever.The cops are usually two in the car and one is shooting but u r alone.A lot of failed missions because of this option is missing.In Mafia when ever I was chased by a car full of wise guys I could just shoot their tires or the driver without getting out of the car and that was a good thing.Please bring this back.
Just finished it and I gotta say great review. On some missions I'm saying to myself "Why am I doing this?", but I think the menial tasks make the the gun battles even more epic. I only wish they would have given us more of a background/insight into Vito. He seemed kinda empty.
I got this when it came out but just started playing it; after finishing LA Noir which is what put me in the mood for it. While LA Noir was a killer game in it's own way I like Mafia 2 just as much so far and it looks like it gets even better. I don't really mind that there isn't a ton to do in the city because sometimes with games like Saint's Row 2 and Just Cause 2 I feel like there is almost too much stuff to do, leaving me feeling kinda burnt-out before I do everything. Anyway, great review and so far, great game!
ok, i had this game since its day one launch... but i haven't touch it yet! so much other game to play, so much to do... lol my ps3 is collecting dust because of psn breakdown and thank god i still can play gears on my 360

Absolutely loved the game. Great story and setting but am I the only one who thinks the ending is a bit cheap? Mostly feels like a setup for a sequel...
I kinda hate how the only thing the "sandbox" gameplay brings is an extra five minutes driving slow bricks of metal to missions. GTA at least makes that part enjoyable. Also, there are an insane number of cops in the game that will force you change clothes if you run someone over after being chased for speeding...
