Here it is, the poll to end all polls. Do you finishline backspam? Do you throw Koopa shells behind you at the end of every race? It doesn't matter what position you are in.
Even though I haven't played in a while, my answer is NO. That might shock a lot of people since you know how I am, but that's beside the point. My point is that throwing a shell behind you at the finishline on the final lap is a pointless thing to do UNLESS the player you are aiming for is close enough to take away your position. You never know when someone might lag ahead of you, but if no one is even close to contend, then there's no point in being an ass by throwing a shell back and giftwrapping 2nd, 3rd, or whatever to the other player. Not everyone expects it and not everyone can develop reflexes to dodge them in time. So why the hell do you do it anyway??? You're doing nothing but giving yourself a bad rep!!!

Your answer is not a shock because these answers show your bias. A simple "Yes" or "No" would do. I'd would have picked "Yes," not because I want to make lives miserable, and not because I do it myself, but because there is no reason the next person should expect a free-ride just because the person in front crossed the line. The entire race, you're looking out for incoming obstacles and reacting to them. Ivan out

Also, if I may quote R.A. Salvatore:
"Those most powerful in Menzoberranzan spend their days watching over their shoulders, defending against the daggers that would find their backs. Their deaths usually come from the front."---

You two are missing the point of the topic. I included yes and no. Ignore the extra tidbits if you want. That's where you should use your judgment.

Lets be honest, the only reason people linespam is just to be malicious. You can't argue that there's a strategic reason for it when your position in the race is secure and you're crossing the line to finish your race. By then throwing items back affects only other players, not you. I've seen people argue to death that that's their reason but it's just ridiculous. They do it to mess with the other racers, simple as that.
That said, no I don't do it.

I don't understand why people post like this on message boards. It's a waste of time and space.
My vote should be obvious by now. If not, read my Yoshi Falls topic.

If I'm in the Sprinter or any other kart/underused vehicle against bikes then I will damn well do it! The amount of crap you have to go through to keep at the top in a race if you're in a kart or anything other than the big 3 bikes is ridiculous, so they can have some crap thrown back at them too

I normally don't do it, but if the person behind me is someone I don't like or only got there through some lucky shortcut I'll backspam. Honestly, it's just a game so I don't see the big deal, and to be honest dodging back spam at the finish line is beyond easy to do and at this point I don't know why people don't see it coming.

I throw my items forward. No reason to shovel crap at people behind me if I've already finished, unless it's a FiB or banana I place on the line, since neither of those are going to make a difference in anyone else's position.

Is there any particular reason Nintendo did this? I mean, aren't boys the bigger audience for Pokemon? Why would they only try to appeal to boys with the gifted Pikachu always being female in Pokemon Battle Revolution? --Alphrin

Not everyone can move over fast enough. That's because most of the time people don't expect backspam at the line.

Ehh, if you're not expecting item clutter near the finish line then you're not used to placing well, I would wager. Expect the unexpected, as they say. Count on people trying to knock you off, wheelie tap you, leave booby traps, etc.
Now, as far as "linespamming", I agree that online the only reason to do it is to be a menace to those behind you. There is no advantage to be had.
If you're racing offline with 1-3 other people and playing a series of races for points standing, then there is an advantage to be gained by potentially causing your closest rivals to lose a spot or two to the CPU players and open a wider gap in the points. That can't be overlooked (offline).
