It's good to see that one of the writers here really does care about the fans and the franchise. He says a lot of interesting stuff about ME3 and the ending DLC, but the most important stuff is as follows:
-Everyone plot-important on the Citadel survived.
-Although the relays are still broken, FTL drives are greatly enhanced to such a degree that the relays are no longer needed.
-The mass relays did not explode so much as short-circuit themselves.
-Weekes wanted to do cinematics showing the assets in action, but it would have taken too much time and money. He seemed disappointed that he couldn't show off the volus dreadnought Compensator (no, really).
-Weekes wasn't happy with Harbinger's absence either. - Apr 7, 2012 8:13 pm GMTI want ot have Weekes's Children.

The galaxy isn't ruined from the Mass Relays...
All the different species can survive effectively...
Though what I'm surprised about is that there were survivors from the Citadel wreck.

If the TC says not to quote his comments because he might have remembered the stuff wrong or gotten Weekes comments wrong... I'm sure he spoke with Weekes and Weekes probably was more down to earth with his responses but I wouldn't, and the TC flat out says not to, put any weight or hope on any of Weekes supposed comments becoming actuality.
Again, not trying to be a jerk, just pointing out what the TC over there said himself. - Apr 7, 2012 8:26 pm GMTCompensator? That's ****Ing fantastic.

The ending was meant to be bleak and depressing. They're changing it now because of fan outcry.
Does anyone else remember Mac Walters's tweet that over 90% of the people on the Citadel died horrible deaths when the Reapers invaded?
Now they're saying the opposite. - Apr 7, 2012 8:32 pm GMTanothrgamer1234 posted...

What? So the space magic explosion suddenly made FTL equal to the relays? And I'm pretty sure Ventboy clearly says the relays get destroyed no matter what you do, and we see it. Kind of hard to interpret that differently.
But whatever. If they want to retcon everything so we get a better ending, fine. The fans and the series itself deserve a more fitting end to the trilogy than a Galaxy wide fart.

ITP: 90% of the people on the Citadel (including those that don't even show up/have conversation/aren't plot-important) are plot important.

No, they're not. "All the Important people survived" is probably less than 10% of the citadel. Who do you need? Really? The Council. Politicians... Well, that's about it. Throw them into a "super bunker" and they're safe. Let all the civilians rot. - Apr 7, 2012 8:37 pm GMTIokua posted...

Aria: We are the named civilians of the Citadel.
Bailey: We were there when the citadel exploded, but due to plot armor and contrivance, we survived.
Conrad: We're just too awesome to kill off-screen. We are the 10%.

It's equally possible that the different writers intended different things. Isn't Mac Walters supposed to have written the ending pretty much single-handedly, along with Casey Hudson? It's entirely possible that the other writers had no say in the abomination that Walters and Hudson created.
Weekes seems to be one of the better writers... or at least, he gets mad cred in my book for writing the Tuchanka and Rannoch arcs. So maybe he saw what a trainwreck the ending was, but he had no say in matters and wasn't allowed to change it. Now he gets his chance with this DLC. - Apr 7, 2012 8:38 pm GMTI think I need to stop reading anything else about ME3. It seems that things just keep getting worse and worse.
I'm blaming EA.
