Have people turned against this series?

Across the internet people seem to be referring to this as that "crappy mass effect series." Yeah, so the ending was bad but the series overall was phenomenal! why has public opinion seemed to turn against this series?

From my point of view this game had everything:action, comedy, drama and real choices wich impact the game.It isnt a bad game ME3 had a good combat system, skill system-u can choose any weapon on any class affecting only the cooldown.I dont regret paying for the whole trilogy but i regret that at the end BIoware maded a bad decision with the end, asking for more money adding dlc on disc (wich is vvv bad).Even the story geth\quarian was different from what i though-i was thinking that geth where the boogeyman that where described by any1 in game but it was different. That i liked the most how you could make your own decision-if u hated machine you could wipe them out,if you hated quarians for "slavery" you could kill them if you love them both you could make peace-that was nice.So overall the ME series was great i loved all of them just that the end was screwed up by ppl who made massive cuts, forfeiting the good staff for ppl wich will say yes to everything and having no clue what marketing research meant and slapped an unfinished ending to get loads of cash.Thats my oppinion :D.

That would be an Understatement lol.
But I still love the series, the only thing I hate are the last Ten Minutes of ME3 (we'll see if that changes when the EC comes out.) other than that, its probably the Best Series Of This Gen.

You have some who judge the entire series by the last 10 mins of the 3rd game, and then you have those who might not like the ending, but realize that the overall adventure of the series can't be compared to... IMO.

I think the problem is that people expected more from the series overall and the direction since the first game has not lived up to those expectations. There has been improvement in some areas. The cutscenes and voice acting have gotten markedly better since the first game, as has the combat. However, it seems to me (and I think a lot of others) that when BW first started this series they had visions of a fluid experience with decisions carrying over from one game to the next and with your character having a universe that evolved around him/her.
The more the series has gone on the less that has become the case. They talk in the first game about Spectres having a ton of contacts whom they rely on and there's a ton of time devoted to meeting different people who would fill that role based on if you help or hinder them, but in the next two games they basically all turn into one-off appearances. At best they give you a boost in war assets in the last game, at worst they show up on Omega to tell you they opened up a clinic for orphans.
I understand that implementing this properly would be hard, but it just seems to me that as soon as EA took over this aspect was almost completely discarded because it was hard. One of the more disappointing things about the second two games (both of which I think are better than the first, BTW, endings notwithstanding) is that they didn't seem to want to innovate. Yes, maybe some of the ME1 ideas were too ambitious to be easily implemented, but to me if every time a dev has a great idea that would be hard to implement it gets cut or dumbed-down then video games are going to stagnate. That's the lesson of the acquisition by EA, instead of trying to innovate BW is now going to do the most profitable thing. It seems a little odd to me, too, as you would think that with more capital ot utilize they would be better able to take risks and try new things, but sadly that doesn't seem like it's going to be part of BW's MO anymore. Another great independent developer turned into a big-budget cookie cutter game producer by EA.

It was a great game but the ending just seriously was among the worst I have ever expereinced. I think I replayed 2 like seven times but replaying this game twice seemed like a pointless chore after the first time because nothing that you do really matters.
