does sheppard ever speak?

I've never played any mass effect game. Does Sheppard talk when you select a dialog option? If so how is the voice acting for Sheppard?

Yes, Shepard does speak when you pick dialogue options. The voice acting is pretty good, I prefer Jennifer Hale over Mark Meer though.

Meer is the main reason I hate playing a male Shepard. Maybe it is because Hale does such a good job or something but Meer seems so bad in comparison. It is like the guy just does not care at all.

I actually like Meer better, he sounds more military. Hale sounds more like a normal person.

I think Hale and Meer are about equal in ME1 and ME2, but Hale completely dominates Meer in ME3.

I feel the complete opposite.
Hale was much better than Meer in ME1 and ME2, but Meer absolutely dominates in ME3. He puts so much realism and emotion in his performance, while Hale comes off a bit cold.

Honestly I felt like Hale sounded a little bored some of the time. Plus Meer had the cliche badass game hero vocie that just git the character despite being an overplayed stereotype. I think with Hale I just compared her performance to that of Metal Gear too much where she was far better. She definitely sounds tired and bored in some of the scenes in ME2 and 3. Dunno about 1 since I haven't played it yet.

Me. Whether it's because I played Male first or what I don't know.
I just prefer him to Hale, she's good though I'm not saying she isn't I just have a preference for male shep.
