Story grinds exp rewards?

I have finished almost all of the story grinds and it says the rewards for them is exp but I haven't gained any, I haven't played a match in multiplayer but I checked it and I'm only lv 1 and am only missing two grinds. Did I not get the exp because I didn't play multiplayer? And did this happen to anyone else?

These can just be used to grind for exp but it defeats the purpose of playing multiplayer if you ask me

    Try the Mp, see if it registers? what about score attack, will that trigger it? i dont have all the sp ginds so idk.
