Is Passos always a useless chunk of space?

In the stadium mission, he was useless when he had the sniper rifle; he was useless and I had the sniper rifle and I had to defend him; he was useless when we were together at first. I can't remember all of it but the very first mission at the rich man's house--Rodrigo, I think his name was?--I think Passos was useless there, too.
He was also useless for me in the flashback mission when I killed the mobster's son in Jersey, although not as much. He at least killed ONE OR TWO thugs on his own.
Anyway, sorry for the rant. I love the game, but Passos isn't doing a damned thing and he makes me angry.

I was playing "NYM Hardcore"--and I was on the "Boat Level" where Marcelo says to Max "Do what you think is best" and Max says "Well, I think it's best we try to go find HER!" and then Passos says "Yeah Ok, lets go then". So heres what happens after that, right when Passos joins me to fight, the snipers just end up KILLING HIM within like 2 seconds. I didn't even have a chance to defend myself or pull my gun out or anything--it was just "BANG BANG BANG" RIP Passos. And that screwed me up- so I had to start NYM Hardcore ALL OVER AGAIN because of that little mistake that wasnt even my fault. So to answer your question---he is a useless chunk of space.

I got up to the final chapter in the game---the LAST one--and ended up running out painkillers in the airport and got Killed!! I was so PISSED, now I gotta start all the way back to Chapter 1 and redo the whole thing all over again because of that!!

Yesterday, I did actually complete ALL OF nym hardcore yesterday and got the ACHIEVEMENT for it as well!! That's one thing I'm glad I get to scratch off my to do list!! Haha Yeah, I almost beat NYM Hardcore today. I got up to the final chapter in the game---the LAST one--and ended up running out painkillers in the airport and got Killed!! I even got the achievement for it and everything!! That's one thing I'm now proud of myself I can scratch off my to do list FOREVER!! Hahahaha.
