Completely, completely agree. Not every game needs multiplayer and they should never directly tie trophies into it. And it's true, you have to buy a game within it's first month to get anywhere with it. I recently purchased Resistance 2 and it has two mp trophies (which of course are time consuming to get), but you can't level up when you can't get in a ranked match or your battling level 30's with all the upgraded weapons. Multiplayer games are too unbalanced to be taken seriously and need to be toned way down.
However, they should focus on Co-Op for people who don't neccessarily care for mp. Max Payne should have had an online or offline Co-Op with minimal trophy requirements and then left alone, but judging by the pre-orders availible this will really fall back on mp and DLC for it.
Edit: Up in the air on pre-ordering, because of the mp. Might wait to see some video on it.

I'm hoping for some coop modes for this game as well. Maybe some hoard/survival modes would be excellent. I wasn't too excited about getting this since it was delayed but after seeing that multiplayer trailer and I'm back onboard for this. I had preordered this then cancelled my preorder after the delay was noticed. Looks like the delay was what this game really needs. Now I have to go preorder this again.

I think it's great that you don't have to play the multiplayer in the single player campaign.
Seriously, though. Stop with these threads, we know that the Max Payne series does not need multiplayer. But it's gonna happen regardless of what you say.

This is R* were talking about, Singleplayer wont suffer because of Multiplayer, look at RDR.
There was nothing wrong with that game having Multiplayer, Singleplayer was still brilliant.

If you don't think the game needs multiplayer then don't play multiplayer. simple.
And those saying multiplayer takes dev time off SP while this is true, judging by it the MP is lifted from RDR, which was listed from GTAIV its not like they've completely forgotten the SP; and besides GTAIV and RDR has amazing SP stories as well as multiplayer, I dont see the issue here other than people stuck in the past.

I can understand people not wanting MP in this game and I can understand people wanting MP in this game as well.
Personally I think the single player campaign wont suffer for Max Payne 3 as this game has been in developement for quite a long time and the multiplayer doesnt feel tacked on. Examples of multiplayer being tacked on are Dead Space 2, Resident Eviil 5 Versus Mode, etc.
It doesnt look like the multiplayer will affect the single player in the slightest so for theguys complaing you should worry about it. If you dont like the look of the multiplayer then dont play it, simple. I will of course do what I usually do with every game and play the single player campaign before touching the multiplayer as I prefer the multiplayer to feel like a reward for completing the single player portion.. The multiplayer also gives some replay value to the game. Red Dead Redempptions Multiplayer fealt fun and not just tacked on so I have no doubts about this.

i agree, it's unneccessary.
although i do want to state right away that i think the mp in this game looks good. looks like a game that would have a small but solid fanbase of the mp for a while, much like mgs online for example.

multiplayer looks only ok in this game. Resembling too much of red dead redemption with the movement animations and shooting. That game was pretty good, but i'd like to play mp3 multiplayer. Environments look pretty bland to me. I pray that story in this game is as engaging as the last, cuz the multiplayer dont look like it will be holding my interest for long.
