Before I review Max Payne, I have to say something about RockStar. The quality of their games is unrivaled. When RockStar releases a game, I know it's going to be top-notch with very little issues.
The first tow Max Paynes gave me some of the most memorable videogame moments of my life. From the trail of blood scene, to the introduction of bullet-time, I have been a huge fan of the series and was thrilled about this one. Stripped down to just a third-person shooter, Max Payne is still a solid game. but the unreal visuals, incredible sound design, and fantastic Noire story, make this game the best of the genre. I love how they seemlessly go from cutscene to gameplay. It truly makes it hard to ever stop playing. There's NOT ONE break in the action. When you take control of Max, you are killing. I cannot say enough for the actual design and quality of the game itself. The can be easy with too much bullet time, but the bullet cam and the hugely rewarding bullet dodge are implemented perfectly. The length of the story is right on par with what you would want, and the diverse enviornments make every level fresh. I bought Max Payne for the story mode, but I'll continue playing for the multiplayer. I'm used to COD, so it's taking time to get any good, but it's a blast. Every gang war feels different, and I've had no lag thus far. I'm not sure why I gave Max a 9 and not a 10, I guess it's becuase I so rarely do so, but man is this game good

This great game will have you using slow motion for nothing else than to make the experience last as long as possible.

Attractively violent; yet far from a work of art.
