"Almost, but not quite"

It's hard to rate this game cos on one hand I respect the hard work and effort that has been put in it, but on the other I simply am not having enough fun playing it.

You know the design of a shooter is wrong when the most effective way of cleaning an area is to stand by one cover and wait till all baddies walk at you. Because if you do otherwise, you will die. Many times. Maybe even 20 times or more. And that is NOT fun, at least not in my book.

Of course Max Payne 1 and 2 sometimes had that too but only sometimes - most of the time you had to push forward and didn't die too many times. 1 and 2 is another reason why it's hard to rate 3 cos they are in my top 10 of fav pc games..

Another problem I'm having with this game is that it has so much detail and colors that I simply don't see the crosshair when I start aiming so I usually miss the first few shots. Maybe I will get used to, maybe not.

But for now, after playing for only a few hours, I'm actually not that disappointed. After all the big sequels that I got disappointed in (Mafia 2, Witcher 2, Human Revolution to name a few), this is the first one that is not half as bad as I expected.

After beating this game I have more comments:
- every time you die (and you die a lot in this game) and restart, your weapon is switched to pistol - wtf is that about? why?
- some sections are too hard, in a bad way. restarting xteen times is not fun.
- i would like some weapons and ammo please? i sometimes found myself against packs of goons with just pistol in my hands and hardly enough ammo. if you make a shooter so hard, give the player enough ammo?
