- "Masterpiece"
I remember years ago when I was a little kid and purchased Max Payne 2 for the PS2. I played it for like 15 minutes and said what is this crap and throw it away. Now I realize how stupid I was.
Anyway let's jump right to the mean time, any new comer won't find it hard to catch with Max Payne 3 as it's totally a new story and you don't really have to know much about his past but I think it'll be an ice on your cake to know more.
From the very start of the game you'll realize that this game is an Old-School game with good hard difficulty even on medium difficulty and with a HEALTH BAR! God I really missed the health bar and heath packs so thanks God they're back in this game.
The shooting in this game is the total FOCUS but even after beating the game a couple of times it still feels so epic to shoot your enemies.
Animations in this games are totally amazing and perhaps it has the best characters animations in this generation on 3rd person shooters. When you shoot your enemies their bodies react in a very realistic way that was never shown in any other game; emptying a mag on a thug in Bullet-time mode feels gorgeous. Speaking about the Bullet-Time mode it allows for slowing the whole world around you for very short period of time and allow you to see every single action in slow motion, you can hear the sounds of bullets crossing near you as you become faster than anyone else. While reloading in Bullet-Time mode it makes the world even slower allowing you to dodge bullets (they should really think about re-creating the Matrix games).
The story is good and the way Max react with each characters bring him to life like no other game can do to its hero.
Once you finish the game you can play through the Score Attack mode which needs better aiming and better gameplay from you to finish the levels with good scores. Achieving golden or platinum medals in all levels gives you the ability to re-play the game with UNLIMITED BULLET-TIME, there are also lots of other hidden treasures that you can collect across the game and gives you more cheats like unlimited pain-killers (health pack), unlimited ammo,..etc
I didn't play the Multi-player too much as the controls felt "KINKY" at least to me but the epic single-player only feels satisfying.
In last words, Max Payne 3 is an amazing old-school masterpiece from RockStar that never disappoint. Does it worth getting? YES, this is a must buy game that have something for everyone.
