I was very disappointed when I purchased this title.
The game forces you to join Rockstar's lame social network before you can even install it. It forces you to give them your email address and if you buy it on steam, it forces you to link you steam account with your Rockstar social network account.
Essentially the game is belligerent spyware. Too many game companies these days are trying to emulate steam's success, however at best these game companies are erecting useless barriers to people who already paid to enjoy their games - at worst they're unwittingly promoting hatred against their own companies. I don't doubt however that the executives are patting themselves on the back for a job well done.
I really wish steam would have advised me that this would happen before I purchased the game. If I had known I wouldn't have bought it. Oh well, at least I bought it for dirt cheap in the latest sale.
-Update-
It doesn't let you access the game if you use a different email for your rockstar social network account than you used for your steam account. So if you use your real email for steam, and your reserved-for-spammers email account for rockstar, you won't be able to play Max Paine 3.
I really wish I could give a negative number as a score.

A great variety of cheesy cut scenes obscuring what could have been a good game.
