Max Payne 3 User Review
The 'interactive movie' idea seems clever, but the flat, repetitive game play makes this one a dud.

- Easy
- Time Spent:
- 10 to 20 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "All flash, no substance"
I don't have much to say that hasn't already been said. But in sum:
1) I've often hoped for this kind of 'interactive movie' game (and I found the plot to be interesting enough).
2) But the dead-boring, repetitive game play made it a struggle to finish.
Max Payne 3 does have some really nice scenery / varied locations, and clever cinematography and well developed characters that add to its movie-experience feel. Also, modern day gamers (especially the young and action's-better-than-strategy-and-wit kind of audience) seem to enjoy this kind of action - slow motion scenes + blood & gore + non-stop shoot 'em up.
So if you don't mind level after level after level of the same 'guns-blazing' game play - the kind that has NO character, level, skills, weapon, etc, DEVELOPMENT to at least vary it a bit as the game progresses, then you'll love.
Otherwise, you'd be better of just reading a Storyline FAQ than actually playing the game.

Another healthy dose of drugs, booze and bullets from Rockstar. A brilliantly refined third person shooting experience.
