The bald guy is Alex Balder from MP1, the second blonde guy is the original Max Payne; the sour-faced original protagonist that many fans have come to accept as Payne, no matter how many times they decide to change Max's face... The soundtracks playing in the background are; Byzantine Power Game and Just Forget About It; both from the original game.

The makers of Max Payne 1 and 2 shed light on how Remedy Entertainment has been involved in the development of Rockstar's Max Payne 3.
and there will be a cover system so stop whining why wouldnt there be just because thers a cover system doesnt mean you have to play it that way gears of war has a cover system and i never use it
for people that are so hyped about gta 5 dont get me wrong gta is one of the best video game franchises ever but I think alot of you forget that rockstar games in general are one of the best video game developers in the world so why over look this game for gta 5 when gta 5 isnt coming out until around this time next year anyway
So many Great Games this Year!.. Max pain was my favorite series and most memoriable PC game/s. I am super-hyped about this game. I am actually glad it is not coming out until 2012...gives me time to get my fill of skyrim... Cant afford both games anyway but now time to save! Lets hope it is even better than the first 2 games!! I know thats asking a lot!
It can't come any sooner!! I think the long wait that we've had to wait will be well worth it in the end. Max Payne 3 should be a project done right and I think Rockstar is doing just that with MP3!!!!
Oh man, from what I hear I'm afraid, when I play Max Payne 3, I will be sad and nostalgically miss old Max Payne - Max appearance, story, music and gameplay
@ moc5 - Kudos, good sir. Well said. I don't disagree with a single statement. I love to see someone with the ability to intake what is presented to them. Not being part of the immature flock that only expects characters to react to situations as they would. Very unreasonable expectations of a person's particular vision. *clap clap*
I still don't know what to think of Max Payne 3. It's a difficult proposition.
Rock Star has never let me down yet. I have faith in them in case anyone was wondering. I'm confident the game will be good regardless just as Simon_levane below was saying.
The hair shaving scene is right out of "Death Sentence" with Kevin Bacon. In a sense, MP 3 reminds me more of a "Die Hard" movie than a sequel to "Max Payne". Still, I'm sure it's going to be great especially since it has the blessing of Sam Lake!
It's good to know that Remedy wasn't cut out completely from the loop. "Max Payne 2" was my favorite story-driven shooter from the early 2000's. Can't wait for this game!
@Alex_09 On the contrary, my friend, many did feel the experience in max payne to be gripping and real to them even if in a pseudo Humphrey Bogart sort of way (it added charm). The point is not that it IS real but that it FEELS real. You can make a flying pig FEEL real if you do it right. I just figured a fellow Gamer would know what I was saying without me having to spell it out for them. What I mean by experiencing the character is that you don't need to agree or disagree with whatever decisions or actions they are making as much as identify with the experience of how they deal with the 'the hand they've been dealt' in the story. If you are solely a 'button masher' that likes simple action sequences with lots of pretty colors and explosions and no real depth of game play or story, then I welcome you to the the last 5 years of gaming. Many of my formerly favorite Game Developers have fallen victim to this type of child focused gaming and it's a real shame to see. FYI You used the word 'sociopath' out of context in your post. I'm sure you meant Psychopath, but don't worry, im not judging you. ;) ....and yes, I am one.
I hope "modern elements" doesnt mean a cover system. Was replaying the old max payne games, and there is a definate frantic nature where the only cover you had was dodging. diving, or lunging, or slow motioning your way into a room filled with folks. A duck and cover mechanic often feels like im simply running from cover point to cover point. Sorry, end of "I hate generic cover mechanics" rant.
THIS IS NOT SÃO PAULO. ROCKSTAR WHAT ARE U DOING WITH MY CITY ??!?!??!!? WE DON´T WEAR FLOWERED SHIRTS. F.... ROCKSTAR.
@moc5 First off, I think nobody actually felt the pain the character was feeling in Max Payne in any way. I didn't play because I wanted revenge for his wife and baby's murder, I played because I got to hop around in slow motion shooting people. Sure I liked the fact they made an effort, but the storyline was still kind of weak and the writing was laughably bad at times. Besides, how did you feel personally linked to all those marines you sent to get blown apart in Starcraft? Are you a sociopath? Second, Blizzard are not the best developer. WoW is the biggest fan milking scam ever created, not to mention one of the most repetitive games, and Activision proved that fact by showing how much they loved the idea by merging with Vivendi. And even their other new games aren't half as impressive as the prequels were for their time. They are still reliable developers, but they aren't the best. I think Bethesda develops(not publishes) undeniably great games regardless of what you're into, and they own the rights to the two best open world roleplaying series around. I just don't think Blizzard is innovative enough to be the best. They definitely have one of the smoothest online experiences though.
Can't wait to play a lag free Max Payne on xbox. The first and second are good games but they don't run well on 360 unfortunately.
8 years since MP2. theme's quite changed, strings are now in hands of rockstar studios, it's a risk in fact. let's hope it will work!
oh and sorry for the double comment but Alan Wake was awesome and that was by remedy.
Im not going to comment yet on what i think of how this game may turn out (still very mixed) but what i will say is, change that cover art for the game right now. It sucks, period.
very skeptical about this, I love rockstar, but this just doesn't have the same feel that made max payne so great and distinctive in the past.
The whole San Paulo brazilian setting has already been done with F.E.A.R. 3 and Modern Warfare 2 and several other games. Almost every game main character has a shaved head or crew cut. Max Payne stood out because it was Max Payne, it was noir New York, the comic book moments, it was the dark humor moments in between the shooting and killing. What i see from this trailer is Kane and Lynch + Heavy Rain. Max Payne should be treated much like Deus Ex in the sense that, you have to stick to what made the series great, which IMO Eidos did fantasticly well with DE:HR.
I dont care how he looked like as long as he's still Max Payne. Still awesome though. :D
......No offense I am a fan of Max Payne myself too but this one doesn't catch my eyes looks like army of two and Kane and Lynch....Stop and think max payne fans do you want to be disappoint??? like duke nukem fans were or re fans before that???
@rgill90 Different rarely means better. The dark setting is what made Max Payne unique, interesting and real. You felt his payne (ok, bad pun). The best games in the world are the ones that find a way to link to the gamer personally as well as make the game fun to play. Strangely, cutting edge graphics have always been linked to over hyped, shallow game play with no connection to the characters. Why? because in order to be the best, they have to rush the game to market instead of spending time on the most important part -- tweaking it. There's a game buying hint for ya. Just ask Blizzard why they are the best Dev out there. :)
Brilliant - the first two did the whole dark setting with tower blocks and dreary city thing perfectly so why cover old ground? A great and bold step to see them taking a character out of his 'comfort zone' - its divided a lot of opinion but I personally can't wait for this slightly different setting and take on the character.
How is it Max Payne? He doesnt look like MP! The settings have changed! It looks different! It's a different studio! So how is it MP? It's not! Just like the remakes in Holywood of old films this a cash cow with the MP name to it! Not interested!
Hey!!! Sam Lake, that guy created Max Payne, Remedy digitized his face for the first Max Payne, his hair looks different now, but if you look closely it's Max Payne in flesh, I'm not inventing this, I know I read it somewhere in a magazine article..
What I find amusing is how the one with the Finnish-sounding name has a flawless American accent and the guy called Sam Lake has such a strong Scandinavian one. Anyways, as I read previews I'm getting pretty stoked about Max Payne 3.
Recently, the games I've been looking forward to like Max Payne 3 and the Darkness 2 are going the route of crappy graphics. Good graphics don't make a game (except Crisis), but bad graphics can certainly hold it back and keep it from being great.
Well, all in all, I just hope this game to be awesome. And i hope it doesnt turn out to be like Duke Nukem Forever where we can only carry TWO weapons at a time. Hope Rockstar doesnt change the details and gameplay from the first two games.
With so many of my favorite Developers rushing what should have been great games yet only to deliver shallow game play that seems only to appeal to young children, I have to say I'm worried about this one too. I love this series. All I can keep saying and hoping over and over again is please, Rockstar, don't forget what makes games fun like so many others are currently doing. *fingers crossed*
