I'm surprised I don't see this idea for Wily Stage 3, 2nd Anti-Gravity Area.
Try and keep yourself to the left side as much as possible so that you're on the very left when arriving to the screen with the ladder. The enemy will carry you to the right to the M tank, then just fire right fairly rapidly to get to the ladder area easier. (I'm not sure, but to may still need to fire when being carried right to make the enemy release you quicker, but not sure.)
Ruling from above in the higher realms of Guardia.

I've done that part a few times, but I don't think firing while he's holding you will make a difference in how long he holds on to you for. He always releases you just in time for you to rapid fire yourself to the left.

I have a tip to use on the Spike balls of Wily 1, instead of trying to kill all the 4 robots stay on the platform that you enter the stage and kill only the 2 from below alternating with Mega Buster and Plug Ball while avoiding the shots from the ones from above (if it's start to become difficult kill the one from the third floor and then continue the process with the 2 below).

I think you can get Air Shoes by loading a file and doing all of Wily's castle without falling.
It randomly gave it to me, though I know I fell on that file.
