Any other melee weapons besides sword and staff?

Only 3 months till release and the only other melee weapon we see is the staff. I'm concerned that this may have DLC weapons like NG3 but we have to pay for them.
With Team Ninja releasing paid DLC costumes for DOA5 and all, I'm not sure what to think of platinum games.
Still buyin the game though lol. Too badass to pass up!

"The Doktor is a key person," Yuji Korekado, producer at Kojima Productions, told me. "Throughout the game, if you cut the left hand and take it back to the Doktor, he'll buy it off of you. What happens is he uses those as collectibles as well as items used for trade. So the Doktor -- as the mad scientist -- wants more information about cyborgs and how they interact.
"So as you bring these items back, he will upgrade Raiden, his cyborg parts, and his weapons as you trade in the points." The demo I played featured Raiden with some upgrades already, but what exactly wasn't specified.
You can also buy and use the boss weapons from the Doktor. "Throughout the game you bump into many bosses, and these bosses have very unique weapons, different kind of styles, and different attack methods. Now these weapons -- as you beat the bosses and move forward -- you can buy these weapons from the Doktor and use them as your own. This provides a new game element and aspect to the design. Each player can define their own style."

Dont think there will be a claw weapon but Monsoon uses a pair of Sai.

I would definately like dual swords, but their swords do look a bit over-sized for that.

Sun Downer uses dual machetes so I think we may just get his weapons for the dual wielding of swords. Not sure what weapon Sam will give you, maybe an even better sword than what Raiden is already using?
I was actually hoping for a boss that wields a sword that can extend to insane lengths similar to what the Gantz players can use in well the Gantz manga.
Basically looks like a katana or similar style sword but can extend to like 30 to 40 feet in length and is still usable like a normal sized sword.

All we've been told by the devs is that you'll be able to buy weapons from Herr Doktor after defeating each boss, there could be more, we have no clue.

Vanquish has different in-game weapons and DLC superfluous guns. So, I'm expecting that type of layout

Why just the left hand? I thought the BP that you can earn from beating enemies and getting ranks was going to be our currency for upgrades?

Not at all, that's their thing. Many people, including myself, love that sort of thing and will for years to come.
