We all know the game is going to be very good, have platinum ever made a bad game? They have ridiculous cut scenes and stories, but man do they make some of the most satisfying combat in the hack n slash genre. Cannot wait for this.

It's the people quibbling over how this "isn't Metal Gear" that have made the wait for this game unbearable. People need to learn to have an open mind. Metal Gear as a series has been around for 25 years, someone was bound to want to try something different with the property. They've been doing the same thing with the Final Fantasy series over at Square-Enix.

Thank you. Some people think metal gear started back in 1998. They forget or don't know it started way earlier. My first experience with it was on the old NES.

There is also the fact that, just like how the Metal Gear's have been evolving through the games, so have the cyber ninjas. Grey Fox may be the one everyone knows though he wasn't the first, and you can't tell me that when you saw him ON FOOT kick the crap out of REX that you didn't want to play as him at some point.

These die hard stealth action fans though are trying to complain that playing as such a cyber ninja is stupid and has no place in the Metal Gear franchise, when we ALL know who Grey Fox is.

I'm happy to see the franchise from another angle. Besides, if you want stealth action, look forward to Ground Zeros.

Forget Gray Fox, the game plays just like Raiden's introduction in MGS4 looked.

After having a taste of sword in MGS2, I had always wanted more from then on.

    Exactly.

The Metal Gear fans cannot handle the fact that Platinum makes better gameplay than anything Kojima's team could come up with.

But I'm a die-hard MGS fan and love Platinum.

If kojima didn't find us worthy of getting MGS4 i certainly don't intend give him money for a spin-off with a Metal Gear label :-)

That's not a very healthy attitude to take. Who knows? If Rising does well, it might convince Konami to port MGS4 to the XBox 360, since they'll know that XBox 360 owners want to play Metal Gear titles.

Long time Dynasty Warrior player here, nobody loves sticking to tradition more than me but I'm glad they tried something different here. In my opinion the "formula" of level start, sneak past guards, cutscene, sneak to boss, cutscene, boss fight, cutscene, level change. Isn't a real formula.

Everyone knows Metal Gear has been the same from MSX2 up to PS3, to change anything is heresy!!

This is true. the Metal Gear series isn't exclusive to sony Yes, MGS 1 2 and 3 were originally placed on the PS1 and 2, but then 1 got remade for the gamecube, 2 and 3 are for perchase on 360, and Ground Zeros is also going to be released both on PS3 and 360.

Of course, the first Metal Gear games were on the NES, and lets not forget that Snake got to guest star in Smash Bros Brawl.

Again, Metal Gear is not exclusive to Sony.

In fact, the only game I can think of off the top of my head that is currently still only on one system is MGS4.

Oh, I wouldn't bank on that. Though they're the same in spirit, each Metal Gear game introduced something new to the playstyle and overall experience, and then you've got the Ac!d, Portable Ops, and Peace Walker games, which were all fairly sizable departures from the standard gameplay style. Heck, even MGS4 was different in style, even though stealth was still emphasized, it was a different kid of stealth.

Although I sense that the post I'm replying to could potentially be trolling, I've nevertheless made my point.

I wasn't trolling, just being sarcastic. I agree completely, the series has changed a lot over time. There is no harm in having an action game as a side story.

There's no reason for people to complain over this game for being a different genre because there's 2 other MGS games in development atm.
