Can't be any worse than colonial marines?

Looking forward to this game a lot, and think it will be nice to get to play Raiden more. Not worried about the action part, but I am worried that it will be thin on story and thus mesh poorly with the rest of the Metal Gear universe. The Metal Gear Solid games were all, in my opinion, more than they first seemed and always took the plots in unexpected directions. If Rising turns out to be nothing more than a straightforward sword-based action game without surprises or significant plot events, that would be very disappointing.

@wepeel I'm with you on that one. If it's thin on plot, I will still enjoy it, but I really do hope it's a continuation of the Metal Gear saga.

I wonder if evasion will be one of the unlockable skills.

I have to say the one thing I don't like about Rising is when fighting multiple enemies (especially if one is an Irving) is that if the enemy is off-screen there's no way to tell if they're going to attack until you're sailing through the air from the hit.

@PlatinumPaladin You can perform evasive manoeuvres, at least in the demo anyway.

@PlatinumPaladin @nemesis1990 Oh yeah I'll just add that if you only press Normal Attack + Jump then Raiden will jump back a little bit to avoid an oncoming attack. Using the left analog can actually help get behind a opponent (if you time it right).

Normal Attack + Jump while moving the left analog stick.

I don't know why it's not shown in the demo. There are videos online showing the different combos you can perform along with some other tricks you can do while in combat.

I hope the graphics don't look like Vanquished, that game hurts my eyes when I play.  It looks like a faded, CRT Screen.

Still not sure. waiting for the review. The swordplay looks a lot like DMC. Speaking of which, why has everyone knocked that game? As a long time DMC fan, I liked the new game. Its not brutally hard like some die hard fans think it should have been, but it was still good IMO. Anyway, I really hope MGR:R turns out to be a good game. everything else from platinum has been awesome.

Brutal! Looks like DMC IS OUT and MGS:R IS IN! :-P

I don't understand why people are skeptical about this game, if anything be assured it will be a great action game from Platinum.
