If you're going for a Big Boss Emblem run, I found it makes it easier if you save up the money to buy the lead ball gun and use it to shoot tornadoes at.... well everybody and gather up a frig-load of tranquilizer ammo for the Mk. 2 and Mosin on an entire play through before proceeding with the Big Boss run. This way you don't have to worry about stocking up on ammo later in the game.

I just discovered an free Chaff exploit in ACT4.

Go to the snowfield/comtower in Act 4 but don't go far enough to fight Wolf. Turn around and backtrack INSTANTLY. When you get to the Canyon, all previous items from the start of the stage will have respawned. Most notably, the Heliport Chaff. I've done this about 5 times now. Sometimes the two Canyon Gekkos respawn, sometimes the don't. Be careful. Everything else always respawns.

If you're feeling ballsy/not worried about alerts, just run through the Dwarves. A reinforcement Gekko will appear in the Heliport but its easy to just run past him for the Chaff as he seems to run straight for the hanger door before even noticing you. Or you could play it safe and sneak back out.
    ...
On the way back the the Snowfeild/ComTower, the stinger (in the back of the truck) and other items in the nuke dispoal respawn once you've re-backtracked(w/e) but that's not important.

Amazing what you can find when trying to burn time for a Chicken.

lol Thanks for the info, but I beat you to it. The funny thing is I posted this already its the second tip.

One thing I forgot to mention is you can use the steel drum on the Beauties if you want save ammo. Equip, roll over them, unequip, and repeat.

Don't apologize you did what I was too lazy to do spell it out. Now people can see the ways they can use the second tip. Thanks.

How did you get the resistance member to skip the part in the middle? I tried going up the stairs and following the path but he never comes the same way.
  • Jul 7, 2008 10:18 pm GMT
I guess I failed to mention I let the Resistance member go around the corner to the part where Otacon says he needs help getting past the guard. I went up the stairs and followed the path. Climbed up the ledge and continued following the path until I got to the ladder. I jumped down a walked back, from the direction of the park, to the position where the Resistance member should still be stationed waiting for me to deal with guards. When I made it back he had already gone up the stairs and ws running down the path.

I think a lot it has to with the time the Resistance member spent waiting.

There's MK2 ammo in the Midtown N sector. It's before you reach the 4 PMC soldiers in a little corner as you're following the disguised Resistance member. I think the corner is near a white van. I found this info on the strategy guide.

Well that doesn't seem to make much sense at all. But what decisions at GFAQs are sensible?

I have make a new topic here...
    http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=926596&topic=44186195

"Hello guys. I am currently trying to get my BBE in new fresh game..Have gotten it from the New Game +, but just trying to play it in little bit more difficulty. But I am having really hard time finding the v-ring ammo. The problem is that v-ring ammo is not inherited from the gun you bought...meaning unlike mossin-nagant come loaded with the tranq bullet...the shotgun you bought doesn't come equip with v-ring..only with the lethal ammo. So what I found is, if you dont have at least one ammo of v-ring in possession, the enemy, or the crate will not drop the v-ring ammo or replace with another ammo...So is this true? Because if this true, I think I maybe deprived of the ammo through out this run...which s**cks because the shotgun is really good to stamina kill the beauty and also for the action chase in act 3.. "

But seeing your are the master of non-lethal ammo...maybe you can confirm whether what I said is true or not?
  • Jul 10, 2008 9:26 pm GMT
I'm not sure what you mean by crates dropping ammo. Enemies can drop V.Ring ammo, but its rare and not really worth the time.

There is more than enough V.Ring ammo available before the bike chase on Act 3. Couple that with the fact that Militia/Rebels can give you V.Ring ammo if you give them items. Spice that up by reading tips 2 and 4.

As for the Beauties there is tip I forgot to add so I said it at the bottom of the first page. Its probably too far at the bottom for people to so:

One thing I forgot to mention is you can use the steel drum on the Beauties if you want save ammo. Equip, roll over them, unequip, and repeat.

Now go and may the Nonlethal be with you my child.
