- Difficulty:
- Easy
- Time Spent:
- 10 to 20 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Overrated"
Graphics: 6.0 (cutscenes are the best looking, but once it come to gameplay the quality drops drastically)
Gameplay SP: 4.0
Gameplay MP: 6.0 (decent TPS with stealth, playing with really players are fun)
Audio: 8.0 (cant say much, they really put an effort in the story, that i dont even care)
Value: 6.0 (i bought the greatest hits $30)
I couldnt classify this as a game. The game is rather long 12-16hrs for SP, until u realize, 50% of the time i ll be spending on 15min to and 1hr cutscene. I know its a tradition for MSG to have very long cutscene but it too much. They have been trying to make gamers care about the story by forcing us to watch it for an hour and the ending cutscene is over 2hrs. The gave zoom functions to the cutscene and i couldnt even piece the purpose of it. If ur into cutscenes, the voice acting and lipsync are very well done and also the motion capture acting.
I know quite a few players get really confused with the story. Simple, MGS4 story revolving about war economy, you will be hearing it a lot and his ..... is going to take over it by hijacking .... system for world domination. Not sure why kojima wanted to spend 6hrs on cutscene just to explain that.
SP gameplay, are decent to play. It has mix of shooting and stealth. In the other hand, if u decided to go guns blazing, ur probably going to get disappointed. Animation are rather bad in a case of a firefight. Enemies that been shot at dont seem to have any animation of been shot (other than a mist of blood), and they do act like dummies been shot at. Ai in MGS4 isnt design for firefight, they dont seem to take cover when been fired upon and they easily dispatched, if u decided to camp all the way through. Boss fight can be challenging, screaming mantis for instance. Other bosses are rather easy, as their action are been scripted. Besides that, i love about MGS4, it showcase lot of weapons and modification till you realize that most weapons are pretty much the same (no recoil). Although MGS4 added stress system and a camouflage suit, it isnt much to stand up for.
MGS4 online is seriously better than SP experience. Playing with humans are a lot better than AI. It offers lots of weapons as well as customizing it.
Its kinda disappoint that the graphics for MGS4 is rather average, even games on the x360 are far better than this.
Gamespot gave it a 10, think about it. In my book, this game could barely even scrap a 5.5.
