I'm new to this game and could use someone to teach me the ins and outs.
I've built my first city (if two houses and a storage tower can be called a city). Also, why is there SOOOOO much cobblestone. seriously. I've got two chests full of the stuff aside from the stuff i used to build my tower and house.
GT in sig.

Put Cobblestone into a Furnace (with some Coal or Charcoal) and it will turn back into smooth Stone. Use Stone in a Crafting Table to convert it into Stone Blocks, Stone Steps, Stone and Stone Block Slabs, Switches, Pressure Plates and other useful things. Cobblestone by itself is very ugly and shouldn't be used as a primary building material except in a very limited set of cases, like as trim at the bottom of buildings or under fence posts, under water canals, or anywhere you won't see it.
http://www.plotz.co.ukThat website has tools that will show you in 2D/3D (layer by layer) how to make spheres, circles, and ellipses. You set the height and width and it calculates it for you. It's very easy to use and after a few weeks of making them you should be able to make your own from then on.

Welcome to the game. Be careful around lava. When in doubt, read the wiki.

of course, now i have to rebuild my 50 story tower and one of my houses.
the other house is made of wood planks, and looks alright, if a little plain.
