- Dec 6, 2012 12:40 pm GMTWhen I farm wheat by hard I get more then if I use my water/sticky piston farming, is that normal, or just my bad luck?
Seams(SP?) to happen more after the 1.8.2 update, I was just wondering what others though, or if this also seams to happen in anyone game as well.
Thanks for for the information in advance!

Remember Rana? We Want Dock Back! - Dec 6, 2012 12:49 pm GMTOh God, not this again. There is a thread on the main page that is identical to this one. In fact, the thread title is nearly identical. Try searching next time.

I am the redstone master! - Dec 6, 2012 5:50 pm GMTWhat I said in the topic already posted about this, that you could have easily searched for.
When you die, you only hold the equivalent of 9+27(hotbar + inventory) stacks of items.
The way the game registers items is by how many are in a current stack.
What the other users are failing to post(even though they are right technically) is you can only have 200 ACTIVE stacks of 64 items max on the ground.
Dying with a full inventory only drops 36 stacks max.
Harvesting single items on the other hand is where it gets tricky. The game recognizes individual items as stacks of one, if you have 200 individual items, it will total out to 200 items, but if you have 200 stacks of 64 items(which the game recognizes as the same thing) then you will drop 12800 items max.
BUT
Since farming only drops stacks of one item, the game can only limit how many active stacks at once without dropping fps down below 60 fps WHICH 4j has stated is THE main focus on game mechanics keeping at 60 fps.
Same reason we only have 8 players max, same reason we only have 862x128x862 sized maps as well.
If you use water you are creating too many stacks.
Harvesting by hand usually results in picking up the item immediately.

I read that, but I thought that was only info on when you die, good info though.
*I also posted/made this topic when I was 1/2 a-sleep (just waking up, or trying to go to bed, can't remember).*
Sorry, I normally use the search function first.

I wouldn't worry, gives the board regulars something to moan about.

Ignoring the hateful remarks for a moment, I'd like to know what your setup is. My typical auto-farm setup si comprised of three tiers. Lowest is 8 x 4, middle is 7 x 4, highest is 7 x 4. That way, water washes all seeds\wheat down to one point for collection. I typically have multiple fields side by side, each wired to a seperate switch. Each two side-by-side fields share a water supply, with the outliers having one on their outside border. My current is 7 fields wide. Total of 616 squares. - Dec 8, 2012 3:01 pm GMTCraxin01 posted...

That sounds like a nice setup, this is my setup:

When I pull the level to un-power the sticky pistons, water flows down onto a 3x7 area (x2), and I can make as many 'levels'; as I want.
But your sounds like it would be better since I might be passing the 200 item on ground mark.
Could you do a screen-shot or something of your design, please?

I've always used this setup, since it works for me, but maybe I should look into changing it instead, to be more efficient with the updates the game gets.

Says the guy complaining about regular users complaining...
At least I helped when I told them to use the search bar. It gets people in the practice of not having everything spoonfed to them, learning to discover news things and accumulate knowledge on their own. and most importantly keep the boards free of clutter and repost topics, and nonsense topics as well.
What is the point of the search bar if no one uses it?
But you and your almighty wisdom, We all thank you SOOOOOO much for your help in this topic and helping tc understand the answer to their question.
Wait, that was the alternate reality where you are not a tool.
Lol, truth hurts does it?
Also, where exactly was I complaining? I merely pointed out that people like you aren't worth worrying about.
Not a complaint at all, just a statement of fact.

- Dec 9, 2012 11:05 pm GMTSeriously? You're getting this upset over a relatively innocuous comment?
Methinks you is a tad too petulant for your own good son. Maybe you need to grow up a little.
I'll not be returning as you seem to be getting really angry over something pretty insignificant and I wouldn't want you to prolapse or something, so feel free to call me every name under the sun as I'll not read it.

- Dec 10, 2012 4:21 pm GMTI hate to ask, but can we get back on topic please?
I think that my wheat/water farm is passing the 200 items on ground rule, and therefore I'm loosing wheat because of, probably my water/farm setup.
From what I read, that's just my guess.
Is my idea of a water/wheat farm a good or bad idea?
Or does it need improving/changing a bit to work better?

I would divide your wheat farm into separate operating cells of no more than 50 farmland each, then hook all those up to separate water flushes, operate only one at a time per collection and you should be fine.
I think the drop rate per farmland is 1-2 wheat and 0-3 seeds per block
so if each cell only contains 50 blocks of farm, theoretically per drop (50 farm harvested) is at lowest 50 items, and max 250 items. - Dec 11, 2012 5:16 pm GMTMetroid_Lover posted...

I have 6 photos (older map, but I use the same premise)
The first three are BEFORE I separated the pistons into multiple switches.

http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/q584/Craxin/WheatFarm02.jpg
http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/q584/Craxin/WheatFarm03.jpg
The next three are After separating the pistons, each plot has one level. I've since started tunneling under the plots to make redstone channels. I've also started putting the switches on top of the blocks, not on one side or another.

One tip I can give is, flood one field until all items are at the collection point, flip the switch to block the water, then turn on the next field's switch. While that floods, replant the first plot. Glass blocks (or whatever block you like the looks of) above the water makes replanting easier. No crushing tilled soil. Let me know if that helps. - Dec 11, 2012 5:19 pm GMTOh, and at 88 blocks of tilled soil per tract, harvesting leaves a maximum of 176 items (wheat and seeds) per harvest. No worries about 200 item limit being reached.

Thanks for those images, that helps a lot!
BTW: Is this 200 limit/glitch only for the xbox 360 version, or does it also apply to the PC version as well?
