Seems the only drawback is it doesn't have much in the way of animals eh? That is kind of a bummer as I am a fervent carnivore.

Does anybody know if the seed is better than the seed "opensource"? I've explored roughly 1/4 of the map and only found 2 villages and no strongholds/ mineshafts.

6 villages on this one. Some are solid sized.

To people having trouble finding animals I often find that if I make a platform in the sky and fill it with grass that animals spawn a lot more often, also the number of animals spawning in a certain area of a map is dependant on time spent in that area. There is also the possibility that the seed just doesn't have a very high creature spawn rate ill try a few things later on and post back my results.

I made a world using this seed yesterday and I found plenty of animals to the south-east though there is a crap ton of wolves but plenty of sheep and pigs.

I like this seed a lot.
There's another monster spawner at about -182, 52, 72 with some chests that give you a couple saddles and stuff.
