Hmm. It's a great game, for its uniqueness, if anything. It's lacking, but its chief focus is well done, and I found it polished overall.

Those scenes shown as he talked of initial difficulties for most players, bah, that was really lousy gaming. You're bound to get the hang of it by the end of the second level, at most. Third level, tops. If not, then you're just bad at it and probably won't get any better; so the game's not for you.

Don't take that the wrong way, however. After all, you can't expect your old folks to be any good at Crysis, as they are in Solitaire. Okay, a less potentially risky example... many gamers have a knack for strategy gaming, yet not for aiming and shooting. And vice-versa.

Just revisited this game, if you havent played it definitely give it a try. The visual design is spartan but really engaging and just dam cool. the ambient sounds etc really get you involved in the world around you. The free running and hand to hand combat are fluent and smooth as silk.

This is why I will never trust Kevins reviews. What he likes is Rpgs and games that have a convoluted story with bad soap drama. Whereas appreciating this little gem requires you to be someone who loves a game for the gameplay and controls. The adrenaline rush, music, ambiance, and overall gameplay concept for this game is simply too original to be believed. This game restored my "faith" in gaming when I was turning into a complete cynic.

Future Time! Following the huge success of BF3 DICE announces BFBC3 and Mirror's Edge 2.

7.0 should be a good grade but it is not really. For such a innovative game, with beautifully designed enviroment, terrific sound effects and that gives you an adrenaline rush sometimes I would expect a more positive evaluation. After some years no other game has brought us the same feelings or ideas of Mirror's Edge. I think the only thing dull there is the shirt of that guy... talking about a game which is clearly not his favorite type of action...

Yep. This game is a sleeper. I've played through it from beginning to end countless times. Its one of those games that can give you an occasional rush. It has an excellent visual style and music as well! This game never collects dust as I always find myself going back to it once every month or so.

@Zevvion: Yeah, I think he seriously is suggesting exactly that. And, for the record, I thought the elevators were just fine. It added flavor to the story and gave you, the player, a moment to catch your breath and wipe off your sweaty hands. Dude was just mad he couldn't pull off sick maneuvers. To this day, the game is sought after and continuously discovered and immediately loved by newcomers.

Zevvion
Zevvion

'and in some cases the game even expects you to figure things out on your own without any assistence whatsoever'. Wait... what? Is he seriously suggesting that's a con about this game?

@EdibleFood I have it on the 360 and it plays perfectly. I'm reasonably good at it (I'm being a little modest perhaps, because I'm definitely not like the pro's but) I can clear the game nowadays in one hour and 15-20 minutes. It's just awesome. Cleared it over 20 times. One of the best games this generation.

EdibleFood

I do agree that the 360 controller would be weird for this game, the left and right bumpers are really clicky and those are some of the most used buttons.

EdibleFood
EdibleFood

Also...not gonna lie but it just looks like kevin kind of sucks at it. I experienced very little trial and error in the campaign. It was only difficult towards the end where they started to send tons of enemies at you. This was difficult because i was playing on the hardest difficulty.

"the gunplay is loose and un-fulfilling" says the reviewer. that is because it is'nt a shooter in the same way portal is'nt a shooter. its a puzzle/platformer

Those who complain about short gameplay time... complete it on the hardest setting AND without killing anyone--> result: gametime increased by hours and a ticket to a mental hospital... I've managed to do it believe it or not I don't care. Now on these conditions can be this game called dificult, not because someone can't play it.

No offense intended, but I don't think Kevin is too good at this game as it is, and he seems to be basing his opinions on his own frustration, I've been playing it for the second time and it's not too tough, I'm playing it on normal at the the moment and it just requires you to think, which is scarce in most FPS type games nowadays, and that's what makes this game unique, it deserves maybe a little bit higher than 7 out of 10 in my opinion.

@crypto145 - he sucks at playing it. Its Kevin Vanord playing, he has a lot of difficulty with games that require skill over control. Check his NOw playing Assasins creed 2 , his demonstration was horrible. Mirrors edge is a hard game anyway, a lot of people claim that its DICEs fault for not making it more playable, or blame the "trial and error" gameplay, when in fact its neither. The game requires skill. People just dont want to admit they suck at playing the game. Its easier to blame the game than to accept the fact that you just didnt get it

Crypto145
Crypto145

At 3:41 that seemed very intentional to me...Seems like the guy playing either sucks horribly or just really wants us to think this game isn't good. Which it is.

Only con of the game.... too short... or else it would easily deserve a 8 - 8.5

Giga_Surfer
Giga_Surfer

I can't see how in hell this game only got a 7.0, I got it today, and have been playing it, its quite an amazing game, it deserves a 8/8.5. This game actually excels, with so many games around that look all of the same, this one stands out. not only that it does a good job doing it so. Everything he was complaining about the game, most of it, its just bs. Well has someone said this isn't Halo or CoD MW2, so anything that han't those brands, it will get a really low score.
