They REALLY are lazying out with the translation names with this monster.

The official name is Jinouga. Screw what Capcom says, its Jinouga.

    Explain how it's lazy.
    Protip: you can't.

I'll agree with them being lazy when the start naming the monsters George, Paul, John, and Ringo.

I don't understand how these names upset people so much. You can always refer to them by their Japanese name if you prefer.

I did that for P3rd and several people here still cried about it because they had those incorrect English patch names to rely on. As long as it's kept to oneself, suppose you're right.

I meant when you're playing on your own. If you're trying to communicate with people online you should be using the names used in the version you are playing, or the nicknames that come up.

There is a monster named nibelsnarf? Is it a pre existing unique monster or a new monster altogether?

What would you have named it? Remember it has to be an original name, and can't contain real words.

And Hapuruberukusurukususukusu is a perfectly good name? Or doboruboruboruberukukukuberuku? People actually prefer those?

    Yeah it is awful.

I think people prefer Hapurubokka (or at least I do) and not that weird thing you wrote. Don't know why you brought up Doboruberuku when he has perfectly fine translated name.

Never again will I bend to Xbox's will.

I'm sick of this. CALL IT THE JP NAME THEN! I know it, I just forgot how to spell it.

Honestly, I like it, it fits the cute little bugger :3.

It was a joke. And I was actually making fun of Urukususu moreso than Hapurubokka. Dobo because I can't stand all those unneeded u's (especially from urkss). I mean, seriously Japan? You toss in a letter that isn't ever pronounced?

I like names like this for creatures.

Think about it. Getting your insides pushed in by the mighty Nibelsnarf, destroyer of worlds. He demands your respect, peons.

The only reason people get lost in thought is because It's unfamiliar territory.

Personally, I find the name Nibelsnarf excellent.

OP has bad taste Nibelsnarf is a cool name.

    SNAAAAAAAAAARF!!!
  • Feb 4, 2013 8:05 pm GMT
Nibelsnarf...? Looks to me much more like GiantBite-snarf to me...

And isn't the word "snarf" some kind of Japanese onomatopoeia? Like a noise you make when you are eating really quickly? I think the name makes an awful kind of sense...

Ah, yes, the old "sandwich" tactic...How delectable...

During Capcom-Unity's Monster Hunter Monday twitch.tv stream, Dubidoh(Yuri) said that the Japanese players thought his Japanese name was dumb too. So the translation may not be so far off from what was intended originally.
