There isn’t much to say about Myst, which is truly a classic game for the annals of videogame history. The adventure game from Cyan which has spawned multiple sequels has been released for the PSP. This porting of the game is well done, and while so, there are technical aspects of the game that could have been improved without losing the charm and vitality of Myst. The addition of a new age, Rime, makes playing Myst worthwhile a second time through. The Myst music speaks for itself for the adventure series, and the graphics have only been moderately improved. Cutscenes are now upgraded, looking better, over the primitive classic-Myst ones, and rightfully so. If you are curious on learning more about Myst (especially if this is your first venture into the series) you might look into gamespot’s reviews of Myst for other platforms, such as for the PC. This game is very unorthodox – don’t expect fighting or action; it’s all about using your brain to gather clues and solve puzzles. GRAPHICS: 8/10 (There could have been environment improvements, but instead the graphics are mostly the same from the original Myst.)
SOUND: 8/10 (Usually Myst-y sounds.)
CONTROLS: 5/10 (No improvement of controls)
DIFFICULTY: HARD (That’s the whole point of Myst – it’s hard, only if it’s your first time through)
VALUE: 5/10 (While some players would argue that Myst has replay value, I personally feel it does not. That stated, the PSP edition is my second round through playing!)
LOAD TIMES: LOW (Very well put together.)
OVERALL: 7/10 (Just a great game that displays the PSP’s true worth – and is an extremely fun adventure.)

A very deep and involving game. Maybe too much so for the PSP.

Myst is your classic adventure-puzzler that is so great, it spurred a genre on its own – and it's now portable.
