Blocking pump fakes

It keeps happenin' to me, man. Drive, pump fake, pump fake blocked, and off they go running the break for some easy points. On the flip side I can get a lot of blocks just by trying to block when an opposing player pumpfakes, as a PG that's pretty cool.

So anyway, has this happened to you before?

Yeah and it's the dumbest thing I've seen. It shouldn't count as a block because you didn't attempt a shot, It should be a steal if anything.

While that's true, it shouldn't be the case either way, and it happens at least twice a game it's ridiculous. It makes me hesitant to pump fake and there goes my game.

I agree. It's dumb because the stat tracks wrong and it happens too often.

I do find it odd that it's impossible to block dunks but it IS possible to block pump fakes. I rarely pump fake as a guard nowadas after getting it blocked so many times.

The other thing is that it totally defeats the purpose of a shot fake. Typically you are trying to get your defender in the air so you can draw a foul, not so he can steal the ball from you.

Perhaps they're attempting to cut down on pump fake cheesing. Like above post said it's supposed to be to get them in the air so if by pump faking you hold the ball up in shooting position it considers you in the initial state of a shot.

So I assume this is the successful end result of them not biting on the pump fake followed by a turnover when you did something at the end. I assume it was take a shot which means the defender was directly in front with hands right above release point. With no dribble that's where you would be unless you pass.

Question - does this happen if you fade away? and does it ever happen if you only pump fake once? I've noticed that a lot of things 2k implements give decreasing returns to discourage but not prevent how we play.
