As far as Kyrie Irving goes, I do think he COULD be top 50, he most certainly has the skill, and he does have the rigt state of mind, but he could suffer some kind of career-ending injury. And as far as the all star game goes, I stopped giving a s*** when Stephen Curry got snubbed, like, seriously, what up with that? I may be a timberwolves fan but I know BS when I see it.
hahaha my man. I live in the Bay area (so I get to see the Warriors a lot) and there is no way that is David Lee's team nor is he the all-star. He might be one of the players as boring to the mass as Tim Duncan. Steph is exciting and flashy and most of all, he's damn good. Dude is the main reason imo that they're in the playoff picture.
Hope we see those two (Curry, Irving) in the final round of the three point contest. Also shout out to Minnesota, I have family there and been to the Target Center a few times. Guys screwed up a bunch (coulda had Brandon Roy out of the draft but took Randy freaking Roye instead if I remember right), but next year when everyone's healthy TWolves are gonna be nice and AK 47 was a steal.

Not to mention the timberwolves are a good team on paper of they stay healthy! And maybe get an upgrade at SG or maybe SF, that's just me though.

LOL a few years ago, hard to remember when exactly. Robert Horry did an interview in which he was asked who is the greatest basketball player ever. Instead of giving some vanilla answer or just saying Michael Jordan, he said that quote. There are so many things that can be inferred based on that quote its crazy, but honestly it was just funny to me.
The interview was on local radio I believe, so I doubt you will find anything.

The guy obviously doesn't understand how badly Melo needs a good point guard (which the swap would take away) and how poor the Cavs defense would be
I hope to make it home in time to start watching by the end of the third. How is Waiters doing against Iggy?

Waiters had finally put together two strong nights and follows it up with a stinker.
Melo has played better D this year and most of his points come off Iso. That argument doesn't work as well as it used to. However, I still don't think melo helps a team that much. He really hasn't ever had major success ever except at cuse. If he was that big of a game changer, he'd have won a few more playoff series by now.

Michael Jackson was the king of pop. It's time to crown eminem the king of rap. - Feb 9, 2013 7:36 pm GMTit looked like Waiter was intimidated by Iggy, didn't really attack much, very passive. IMO he'd be lucky if he got to a JR level
all I could think while watching that game is how bad the cavs are. Tyler Zeller is horrible, man. also I don't think I've ever seen a human being as athletic as Javele McGee. I'll just say this, thank god (for the rest of the league) that he doesn't have the mental aspect of the game or he would be the most dominant player in the league by far, the dude caught the ball while the ball was still above the box. Insane
As far as Melo', I'm not sure its really his fault that he doesn't acheive much. What I mean by that is he has this reputation for being a superstar when he clearly isn't. Now he has this ego and clout given to him by others that allows him to manage other people and personalities which isn't his strong suit. The guy just isn't a leader, but he has been given the green light to do anything any player in the league can do. He has too much freedom.
If he could just focus on scoring and rebounding and was on a team that didn't require him to do soo much they would be golden. The only way Melo wins a title is when he gives up his throne to someone else. He can't be the guy and win, he doesn't do enough. (Think what Wade did with LeBron)

Honestly I don't see Waiters even reaching that level and McGee is a freak of nature compared to other freaks of nature, its scary.
I think you are a little too hard on Melo. Offensively one on one he is on par with the best if the the best, but for any team to win with Melo it has to be built around covering his weaknesses. I am definitely with you on him not being a leader, he doesn't command players the way LeBron does or inspire them like Chris Paul.

If you like big men, it would be Wilt Chamberlain. Or if you're racist you're gonna pick Larry Bird - Horry - Feb 10, 2013 2:23 am GMTdifference between Melo and those other two is that they're efficient and he relatively isn't. He shoots too many long 2's. At least with 3's the risk is worth the reward.

"It's the stronger that make the weaker"- Milliardo Peacecraft - Feb 10, 2013 11:21 am GMTWaiters ceiling is greater than JR. He jut needs to clean up his shot selection. He's averaging 14 a game as a rookie which is pretty good. He's just way too inconsistent which is typical for rookies.
The problem with melo is he hasn't developed his game like durant. Durant has worked on his rebounding a lot which melo hasn't. Durant is a much better passer as well.

kind of a tacky move dude,
and idk at least JR is tall enough for his position, Dion is a generous 6' 4". I see a better Nick Young, a guy who is best suited coming off and creating offense for the second unit. Hope I'm wrong though as I want this Cavalier team to do well, they're very likable.

"It's the stronger that make the weaker"- Milliardo Peacecraft - Feb 10, 2013 2:19 pm GMTI'm pretty sure Waiters is taller than Wade, despite what their measurements say.

You and half of the people in this topic literally know nothing about basketball.
Kobe Bryant - The greatest laker of all time - said himself that Melo was the hardest player to guard. Over Durant. Over Lebron. Over Dirk. Over any player in the NBA.
It makes me sick that people think this way...Carmelo Anthony is the second best scorer in the game today and will be a Hall of Famer when all is said and done. His teams wouldn't be in the playoff conversation if they didn't have him. If you swap Melo out for Irving you get rid of a perennial all star in exchange for a guy who is arguably the no. 5 point guard in the league. You lose size and strength down low and a proven clutch shooter.
It's like you guys aren't even thinking. Melo averages ~29 and 6 while Irving averages 24 / 3 / 5. Melo's efficiency rating is 23 while Irving's is 21.
Melo isn't a superstar? Yeah, keep telling yourself that.

I'm not sure what wade comes in at but that's who waiters has been compared to. The only similarities I've seen is they both finish well and both can be unstoppable. Waiters has caught on fire a couple times and you literally can't defend him. If he fixes his mid range shot which wade is good at then the skies the limit. Problem is, i don't know if he can. His mid range game is off more than its on yet he continually takes 18 footers. It's so frustrating but his good games help relieve the frustrations a bit.

Michael Jackson was the king of pop. It's time to crown eminem the king of rap. - Feb 10, 2013 5:29 pm GMTMelo is so over hated on. Drafted 3rd overall and if I'm not mistaken took them to the playoffs every year. Goes to another NON PLAYOFF TEAM in NY and they are now a playoff team. I'm pretty sure he has never missed the playoffs. He averages around what... 25 ppg, 6 RPG, 3 APG, 1 spg.
Sure Lebron and Durant are the two best players in the game and are box sheet freaks and just freaks of nature. Melo has to be in the conversation for third best player and best scorer in the game. He isn't a great defender but he isn't as bad as some people like to make him out to be. He isn't the best rebounder but can you really say 6 RPG isn't good for an elite scoring forward.
I don't know what criteria you could use to show me Carmelo isn't an elite player over the span of his 10 year NBA career so far. If he wasn't a rookie the same year as Lebron he would have been rookie of the year. Put his rookie numbers up against most winners of that award over the years and he wins it 9/10 times. Plus he made a lottery team into a playoff team twice.
Right now I'd say for best players in the game today
1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. Kobe/Melo/Paul/Wade toss up.
Why do so many seem to not like Carmelo Anthony and will deny that he is any good
