I am playing association at Superstar difficulty with simulation sliders. I for one cannot believe how bad the cpu is at keeping the score close or just playing a game you know you cannot win. A couple major tactics the cpu uses that is blatantly always against you.

Offensive Rebounds. I barley get any, and the CPU has about 14 at half time...yea right. With a strong front court this would not happen. My center (Tyson Chandler) will just look at the ball and not even attempt to get it on both ends. Even worse is having little point guards grab offensive rebounds in the middle of like 3 of my guys. At some points I just laugh because of how absurd it is.

Good defensive plays rewarding the cpu. Ever tip a pass or block a shot? Notice how 80 % of the time the ball goes right back to the cpu who can now easily score. If I make a bad pass its going the other way for 2 100%. The cpu also has a tendency to skate around in the paint, knocking my guys out of the way to score points.

Fast breaks. The CPU has godlike transition defense that gets back without problem. Most of my fast breaks are forced. However when I turn the ball over, I will be surprised to even see one of my guys get back. 2k always says they will address the CPU rocket shoes but NEVER does. This has been in the 2k series for as long as I can remember.

These are the major ones with a whole bunch of minor quibbles i dont even want to write out. I can not enjoy this game when it feels like the cpu and I are playing under different rules. Yet this is the only basketball game on the market so I am stuck with this crap ever year

Quit playing on SuperStar difficulty and you'll stop having those problems.

I agree with everything you said especially the part when you play good defense it rewards the cpu with a offensive rebound most of the time. I play my career on the 76ers and andrew bynum and thaddeus young get out rebounded by a 6'4" chauncey billups. My team is the lowest in offensive rebounding and everything is absurd about this stupid magnetic rebound that always goes right into the cpu's hand.

These things are the most absurd and mind numbing events in this game. Whenever I'm on a break and I try to lead a pass to an open player a defender appears out of nowhere to tip the pass and 100/100 times through the absolute disregard to logic or physics the ball inexplicably bounces backward and away from my streaking teammate. How about when you're headed to the rim without any defenders close by and you raise up to go into your dunk animation but a defender launches himself at you at top speed and slams into you causing you to go into the contested lay up animation. No foul called but try to force the computer to come out of its dunk animation. Not gonna happen.

I feel you man, play on the same diff and the AI cheeses all the time off-ball and on ball. I also feel like the game cheats when your trying to make a pass and all of a sudden you teammate cuts out of nowhere to get a turnover. It's also great how they can get right pass you on defense especially with good defense while they play hard nose defense on you. The only way i could even handle these guys is play really fast tempo offense as in sprint most of the time drive past them kick it out and hope for a open shot. -_-

Played a game last night where Blake Griffin of all people ripped my pg cleanly, but my pg got called for a foul trying to do the same thing. He was stumbling with the ball too and I still couldn't steal the ball from him. And not only does the a.i. seem to have a rebounding edge, but they cherry pick too.

This basketball franchise is pathetic. I'm stuck buying this piece of garbage every year because it is the ONLY basketball sim game on the market so i guess everyone feels my pain. I don't understand how they release the same garbage over and over and not even fix glitches either. Did the developers just release the game purposely with all these glitches i can think of?? Its like 2K said "oh hey lets not test the game and just release it to the masses and scam and steal everyones money" ive been buying 2K since 2K5 and i am being serious i will never buy another game again....mind as well go back to 2K11.

You are going too far. This game is very good even though it has some frustrating flaws. I feel as though the game has evolved over the years and has gotten better. It has issues but it isn't garbage.

Yeah garbage is going too far. Can and should it be a hell of a lot better? yeah probably but that doesn't mean that it isn't still a pretty good game.

Hall of Fame mode is just as bad but they take it to the next step - this is just off the top...

Transition Defense is definitely one-sided. You can never catch the CPU if they're running a fast break, even if they're running it with a Center whereas you a PG. However, if it is the other way around, the CPU will not only catch up to you, but interrupt your shot attempt 9 times out of 10.

Rebounding as you pointed out is terrible, but it has always been. The problem in this one for me is that (besides the CPU always having like x3 the amount of rebounds I get) my players for some reason love tapping the ball instead of grabbing and securing the rebounds. Then if I try to simply just box out, my character only decides to box out every blue moon.

Blocking is unbelievable. Sometimes I can guard the CPU exceptionally well up until the point they put the shot up. I can perfectly press the Y button in tune, but one of two scenarios will occur --- My character goes into a forced animation which delays his jump and when he finally does jump, it is too late | or even though I jump in sync with the shooter, the shot goes as "uncontested" (even the commentators point this out). If I do, by chance, get lucky enough to get that block, the CPU is almost always going to reclaim the ball because my players are just standing there awing at the ball...

Passing is ridiculous. If I am not mistaken, it says hold LT to make a bounce pass, but my players still decide to throw the bounce pass even when my finger is no where near this button. To make matters worse, they love throwing bounce passes through traffic, when it is painfully obvious that a lob or chest pass would be the best kind of pass. Not that it matters anyway because the CPU will more than likely intercept the pass, regardless of whether or not its back is turned or if they're no where near the ball.

CPU scoring is probably the most ridiculous. You can tell this is ridiculous because the CPU will literally give the ball to one character and go on a scoring rampage with said character, rather than run plays, etc. (Not all teams do this but a lot of teams do). I'm fine with someone like Carmelo or so giving me 30, but that's not the problem - it is the way the CPU scores.

Every time I play against the Bucks, Brandon Jennings literally cannot miss from the 3 point arch. Okay fine, chase him out of that vicinity and/or just play some good Man defense... Okay, when I do, he does that same runner/floater from the top of the key (despite you not being able to do it until about below the free throw line) and it always goes in regardless of the kind of defense. I try to the same floater/runner on a fast break (because I know if I try to get closer to the basket, the CPU's trailer will catch me, force some contact, no foul will be called, and I'll miss the basket), and to no surprise, I miss...

Every 2k has its kinks and this one is no exception. By no means am I raging though, I love 2k, it is just fustrating and unbelievable that in my Association (Memphis, pre-Rudy Gay trade), I am racking up wins (even blow-outs) against teams like Heat, Lakers, Thunder, but then lose poorly against the Wizards without John Wall, or The Rockets without James Harden; hell, I even had to quit a game against the Bobcats because things were too ridiculous (Marc Gasol, wide open lane to the basket off of a pick-and-roll --- despite the CPU being behind him, they can still somehow bother him enough to alter his shot and he air-balls... 7 foot (give or take), already at the rim, with the +5 dunking shoes on, and he changes his shot for no reason... and air-balls).

You know they give you so many options so you can tweak the, right?

For instance, I start off on Superstar mode with simulation sliders. Then I move all of the CPU offensive sliders down by 3 pts each (except for 3pt shooting). Finally, I set defensive help for my controller (in Advanced Controller settings) to 90.

The result is a really fair game. I just finished a 58 game season in Association, and all of the stats are really reasonable (I also play with all of the stuff besides injuries on and 8 min quarters). Players shoot realistic percentages, scores are relatively similar accross the board etc etc. I had a pretty stacked team and still only went 42-16.

I will say I've noticed HoF mode is very similar to Maddens HoF mode in that the game literally seems to cheat in order to provide harder competition. I usually never play higher than Superstar.

While true, sliders don't apply to online which is disappointing. I'm not sure how they could implement it anyways so I'm not too excited over it

Monopoly King is spot on with the runner stuff. It is virtually indefensible. It is one of the hardest shots in real world basketball to perfect but not in the 2K world. Apparently it's complexity is somewhere between a lay up and a between the leg dribble.

I don't like messing with sliders since it makes me feel scrubby, but I'm getting frustrated with how fast the ai takes off on fast breaks, nearly swishing every layup when I'm missing good layup attempts. AI defenders still have eyes in the back of their heads, seems like even if they're supposed to be a poor defender it doesn't matter.

Another problem, if I get beat my teammates just stand there like idiots allowing my man to score. These issues ruin an overall solid game.

I said all this a while ago. I'm glad someone else finally sees it. It's like they keep a certain amount of glitches from year to year, so they will always have something to fix the next year. As long as they fix a few glitches each year, they can justify a new release.

These games aren't all that bad yet.... but this is on the road to becoming Madden, sooner than later. I think the new consoles will onyl make it worse honestly, because then they will be able to hide behind the new graphics and other bells and whistles that come with the awe of a new system. Does anybody remember the Maddens that came out within the first year or two of the current gen?? They sucked bllas.

The idea of this is actually scary and sad. At one point, and still to some degree, 2K was known for how much work they put into their game to improve it each year. Looking back at the games from the dreamcast era its really shocking how far they have come in their gameplay improvements. I seriously hope they put the more powerful next gen systems to good use in more areas than just a simple face-lift.
