- The Bottom Line:
- "Great multiplayer"
I just recently bought a Playstation 3, and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit was my first PS3 game to have. By the way, I traded the Wii version of Hot Pursuit, and used my store credit to buy the PS3 version because the Wii version was just a cash-in. Don't worry about it because I still own a Wii. Anyways, this game is just plain awesome for a few reasons.
First, the graphics are vastly different from the Wii version of Hot Pursuit. In this version, everything is immensely detailed and realistic looking. It just can't get any better than this. Also, the graphics aren't too bright or too dark.
Second, unlike the Wii version, this version has online play. I know games are always better when it comes to playing against other people from around the world. The reason why it's better because it will make you keeps going back to playing Hot Pursuit. Also, it became less boring and tedious than the Wii version because you won't play alone as much as you would in the Wii version.
Third, career mode is longer, and it also has more of a challenge. I'm in the beginning of the game, and I'm already having trouble beating some of the quests (mainly time trial quests where you have to finish at a certain time). I know you guys may think this is bad, but it's not because video games would be boring if they were way too easy. I just need to practice a little more on those quests. Also, it's really cool how you can play as cops and bust out other opponents for a change. You couldn't do that in the Wii version.
Overall, I strongly recommend this game to any Need for Speed fan, and online gamers. However, offline gamers should stay away from this game because there is no offline multiplayer, and the only offline mode is career mode. Offline gamers should check out the older Need for Speed games like Underground.
The good - great graphics, immensely focused on online play for online gamers, challenge is not too easy, controls are tight and responsive
The bad - limited modes for non-online gamers
Presentation - 10 The classic roots to playing as cops are back, and they are just as fun as ever. Also, it has a strong story mode, and explaining the game and giving tips makes this presentation pretty strong.
Graphics - 10 The graphics are very detailed, and the brightness of this game is nearly perfect.
Sound - 8 The music is still the same old hip hop and rock, but it sounds pretty good.
Game play - 10 The controls are very tight and responsive. You can drift by using your brakes, and you will still move pretty fast.
Lasting Approval - 10 (online) Although most of the modes are focused on online play, it's perfect for gamers who like to play online. For non-online gamers, the modes will become more limited for them.
9.6 out of 10 Game spot Score 9.5
