Need For Speed: Most Wanted came out in 2005, roughly 7 years ago, and the only next-gen (now current-gen) system available was the Xbox 360.

It sold well on the 360, and in 2007 I picked up a Platinum Hits copy for $35 new.

Used copies of the original NFS: MW now cost $35-40, and it's price on Xbox LIVE's Games On Demand is also $40. That's higher than any other Need For Speed games on the Xbox 360, including NFS: The Run (less than a year old), and NFS: Hot Pursuit (2010, Criterion's last game).

In short: The first Most Wanted was chosen as a game to remake for a reason: it was a good game that still appeals to gamers and still commands top dollar at retail. I can't think of another game that held it's value for that long, and actually increased over the course of 5 years.

A year from now, my old copy of the first NFS: MW will probably be worth more than this game. I hope I'm wrong.
