Check out the E3 trailer for Dungeons & Dragons: Neverwinter.
Neverwinter Nights 1 was a masterpiece, Neverwinter Nights 2 was just fine (and that's saying much), Neverwinter will be the big disappointment, specially for the hardcore PvP players of nwn 1. (F2P, means that the players will be able to buy stuff that will improve their builds, that's the reason why they are going to fail... because no matter how good you are building a character, the best one will be the one that pays for equipment or skills or attributes or who knows what will they put out there for sale). /facepalm @ atari
If they wanna make a succesful game based on NWN, then they should just balance the PvP of nwn 1 (because originally it was not balanced at all, to do that they shuld look forward to what full pvp nwn 1 servers did to balance it), fix some bugs, improve the graphics and the music, modify some classes, create some, remove some (PDK, HS). And that's pretty much it. Oh, and of course they should forget about F2P, instead of that they should just sell the game and enable the players to create their own worlds.
Hmmm...tough guy music. No allusion to mystery of the unknown or starting simple (Lvls 1-4) not to mention putting the fantastic everywhere in the game. Won't prejudge but that trailer didn't help. Squad based? Pure action "RPG"? Actually has personality? Can say the trailer looks pretty but much all trailers do these days.
I'm keeping my mind open because it's DnD, but Cryptic developing? Not holding my breath. That teaser looks good, some actual game play would be cool. I agree about the music. Lose the terrible "metal-lite".
I loved Baldurs Gate: Dark alliance 1,2. I really hope this will be as good as previous D&D games, remember those games from my childhood, best games I've ever played.
Sound promising but we shall see the results. Too often the developers doesn`t include undead as a playable race. Just some repainted humans, even without minor limits of their "different" abilities. I`ve seen so many wonderfull creatures in the D&D games. Why I can`t play as one of them is a mistery to me. Is it so unacceptable to implement Minotaur warrior instead Human knight? Or Lich as mage? Even a Beholder would be far better that any of the standart classes. So many possibilities, so little choices ... I can only hope for something better...
I grew up with the D&D universe. I believe its fuller and richer than any of the modern takes on this sort of fantasy theme. I'm a lover of all the early D&D games such as Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Eye of the Beholder etc. Through to Forgotten Realms Neverwinter NIghts. Looking forward to this, hope its good.
@vulgnor, you don't play NWN1 for the OC, (it is a little "grindy" I'll give you that) you play it for the user created content, which is superb, numerous, FREE and still being created.
@pitsoga, next time hopefully they bust out the lute and harpsichord for you... then you'll know it's a quality game ;)
I'm glad about more Neverwinter but I'm only more fearful when the folks behind it see fit to make such a trailer. It's underwhelming and the rock/metal music is that much more unfitting than it already was in the Dragon Age trailers. It oozes of developers' intent to show-off and try to pass of their work as the hottest stuff ever. That's usually how I look at it when there's such music where it obviously doesn't belong and in games it usually foretells a failure budget title. Hope it's not the case here, of course.
I finally got a computer that could play my NWN 2 and i get to the third chapter of the Mask of the Betrayer Expansion and the game glitches and doesnt give me the Sword of Gith so I am perpetually stuck roaming around with nothing to do cause im too angry to start over
Looks nice. I never really liked neverwinter nights...reached 10th level or something and got bored. I really enjoyed Baldur's gate however. Call me old fashioned I guess. I still prefer AD&D 2nd Ed. over anything following. If this is the 4th edition rules set then I'm not really interested.
@khimeron13 I didn't like the first NWN at all. The story was one long grindfest. It was so boring to me. I think both NWN 2 OC and especially MOTB were waaaayyyy better than the first NWN and it's expansions. I don't really agree with Obsidian ruining everything they touch, they've had bad luck but they do have the worst Q & A team lol. If Bioware made this NW game it would have been dumbed down like DA2. I see NWN 1 as the beginning of their decline.
@Vulgnor Really? NWN2 is your favorite RPG? Well, I liked it, but I thought the original game was much much better. Obsidian seems to ruin everything it touched now if you havent noticed. I would gladly have Bioware make this, but NOT Obsidian.
I wish Atari gave the rights to make the Neverwinter game to either Obsidian or Bioware. I hope cryptic can make this a good game. NWN 2 is my favorite rpg so I'm looking forward to this Neverwinter game...
Hmm... Cryptic making a Neverwinter game..? That can only mean F2P and DLC. I hope they can make a decent game out of it, although I have my doubt.
Neverwinter Nights was my first RPG... and it was amazing! I loved everything in it! I hope this neverwinter brings back those elements that made the first neverwinter nights such an epic game
